Hi Skeeter Pilot
I could do that now that you mention it. I think the LHS mentioned that the Twister electronics pack is about $80. By the time I got a Hummer + freight it would most likely cost me around $200 AU.
Maybe in the new year when my bank account wakes up after being knocked out over xmas lol.
Thanks for the info and suggestion Skeeter

If you bling it, they will come :D

You guys go crazy with shopping too at Christmas time in Ausie? I thought just yankees since it's so cold to go vacation anywhere we just crowd the malls to warm each other up. It's summer time in Ausie right? I would be busy camping than hitting the malls.

just recieved my Hummingbird V3 RTR (I'm assuming that's the one everyone's raving about)....nice little heli. I haven't flown it w/o the training gear. And I get alot of vibration when I first spin up the blades, then it goes away when she's spun up a ways.....then I try to roll left and right, and it's like it wants to re-center, or not let me roll left and right. Am I just used to aerobatic planes where they just stay where you put them in a roll?

Gonna fly again tomorrow.

Shopping in Oz is like pulling teath for me lol. I hate going to large shopping centres and being jostled around (except when the jostlers are cute heh heh)
Every day I have been emptying my letterbox from junkmail.
Spending is always large , and of course I must buy a pressie for me as well
Im going camping in about 3 weeks GF. Wide open spaces, quiet, beer and my bows.......perfect except for no heli's lol.
I hope you all have a fantastic and safe xmas and new year
May you all get a Bergen turbine and a 3DMP from Santa, and plenty of spares (oh how I wish)

gorn,
Can I have a Wren like Bell Blokes. Clear HERE for movie.

g-f,
Good to hear that - you'll wish you had done it years ago.

Erik S.,
Stick with it, that heli flying. You can illiminate vibration by leveling flybar paddles, linning main blade and tracking them.

SP. I have only been flying Heli for 6 months. Also I don't have a 5in1 unit like you do. All my mixers and gyro/mixers are only good for 2S. On the Elite FP I will go 3S and BL

Hi All,

I've been flying my V3 and now my elite on 3cells for a couple years. I gave up that birdseed thing two weeks into the hobby. I could not handle that 6 minute flight thing.

I'm running a TREC esc on the tail with the stock elite tail motor. I've had no problems and my flight times are 15-19 minutes with a 5minute break aroun 8-10mins.

you'll love it! I'm running tp1320's both gen1 and gen2's and a himax 2015 bl motor (century lightning is the same and cheap)

Cheers,
Leslie

Erik, you have to make sure the blades are snug also.
Not too tight where you're stripping anything.

I used the lipo today.
Thing moves so much faster with it.
So with the wind and lipo it
was all over the place, probably had
the neighbors laughing because I usually
keep it in a nice hover.

V3 best setup...

Hello friends, well my v3 rocks, i think the best upgrade is the carbon blades and the lipos (2 cel/1320 thp), if you plan to fly outside, foward fly whit litle wind try this setup, the heli become more stable, responsive, less pich/up effect is another thing trust me, the cost of the carbon blades is hight but work every $ invest, the plastics blades are good for indoor use, because are cheap to replace in case of a crash, but are difficult to track and the heli lost a litle response to inputs, but still good for general use and fun, i put the dragonfly fp blades and i think they are more rigid than Century ones, i believe are better in some way...
Another thing is the stock servos, i think they are cheap but handle the heli well, most people change them but i dont have any problem to date, and if you want to extend the life of both motor's put heat sink on, specially on the tail is amaizing the life of this litle motor's can get running whit lipos (7.4v vs. 8.4v/9.6v on stock nimh batt), dont forget to add a litle white compound (inside heat sink) to transfer better the heat..
thanks and go fly everyday you can

I'm charging batteries....

Joel,
Did you use 3 or 2 cell. If 2 I can understand it not coping with a little wind as well as the stock packs but if you used 3 cell it should be a lot better as the head is spinning faster. Either the wind was too strong or because the head was more responsive you were over correcting.

I use 2 cell lipo (thp 1320), i have good head speed, i know whit brushless i get more (and become more stable up to a point), but i want to stay stock and fly very nice, dont forget fp machines are light and fly well in no wind condition (indoor), but in some places outdoor whit litle wind is ok... because i have carbon blades have less effect whit the wind than stock blades (no flex), but is difficult too fly anyway.., you will see the diference in fast foward fly..

I'm charging batteries....

Hello Beto,
I ran (and several friends of mine run) 3 cell Li-po's with the standard V3 5 in 1 unit with no problems although it is a good idea to fit main and tail heatsinks. I have 3 ThuderPower 3s 1p 900mAh packs that weigh 64grams and 1 ThuderPower 3s 1p 1320 mAh pack that weighs 90grams which is still less than the standard NI-MH. The lighter pack last about the same time as the heavier pack (15-20 mins) the penalty you pay for more weight does not always out weigh the greater capacity. I ran my 5 in 1 unit for over a year but have just fitted a pico board plus to test - they are both as goos as each other. I can't comment whether running 3 cells will shorten the life of the 5 in 1 unit but if I had to replace it once a year it would be well worth the improved performance!!
The 3 cell packs with cut down blades gives way more head speed and power.
I have posted info on this topic click here you may find some usful info.

Just using a 2 cell, 720mah, 7.4V, Ikarus.
And since the battery is lighter, a litle, than the birdseed, it
is quick to go up.
Did go out a little while ago. No wind
for a change, and cooler weather.
Flies nice with little wind.
And I'm lucky there is a bright streetlight right out front of
my house, so I can go out there late at night if I like.
I get a kind of a strobing effect on the blades, so it's
almost like nightblades. I think it is sodium vapor light,
because of the orangish tinge.
