Same here. I sure can use the endless crashes that the V3 takes w/o major repairs.

Hi All,

I liked the simplicity of my V2, what are the differences between the V2 and V3?

My V2 would smack into something in the basement and the only trama was the whole head popped off. No damage, usually.

I'm now flying the elite fp, and when I experience operator error (can't blame the bird at this point) I usually snap the ball off the rotor grip. This is an annoying problem but cheap to fix. I've considered going to the CNC grips but I'm afraid when I do dub-up I'll then break something more substantial i.e. expensive.

Cheers,
Leslie

I agree. It is still my first pick on a non windy day. Relaxing 19 minute flights. My collective pitch machines are not relaxing. Nerve Wracking is more like it.

Lelsie. I have an Elite FP also. I consider the grips sacrificial. Helps to save my CF blades.

I just bought a V3 to go into the Flying-Hobby Airwolf body I bought a while ago. I intend to test out the mechanics over the next day or 2. It does look to be a very simple robust design. (I was originally going to use Piccolo mechanics, but I've decided to retire that and move the Piccoboard into the V3 instead).

It's true..

Yess that is true my friend, try to relax when fliying a cp machine is impossible, because a lot of money (and work) are involve on this litle helis right?, but when you fly the hummer v3 outdoor (whit carbon blades in my case) in a calm day or inside in large room, it´s another history.., if you crash, whit 20$ to 30$ or less you can fix the heli and back to the air in no time,, try to repair a medium size heli like t-rexx whit this amount of money , even if the accident was very bad, you have the barebones kit, cost about the same like one good battery for the bigboys out there , the batteries become cheap (19 to 30$ /2 cell), the spare parts too, chargers, etc when you have some batteries..very nice.., i know i can't compare whit the cp machines, but this is the reallity, because you fly cheap doesnt mind you can't enjoy,. is the funfactor, i know a lot of people fliying this litles birds whit big smile in your faces.. , hover, foward, nose-in, etc, etc, very cool, they dont care 3d stuff, i know is amaizing, but is hard to learn and require a big and more expensive heli, hours of training, and crash sometimes , well this is my point of view, i hope everyone understand my english, thanks people this is a great site and nice hobbie.

I'm charging batteries....

I have always loved my V1, granted I've dome some work on it (some by choice, some by crash) and its a great little machine.
Recently bought a BladeCp and in the stock config (plus 3s lipos) it flys much the same. Even in "idle up"
I have parts for the Blade at my LHS, so a crash and fix on the same day is an option here.
I have found that as long as you don't switch to idle up mode on the Blade it tends to fly much the same as the HBV1 as it is essentially a somewhat modified FP helo in this setting, only difference that I've found (and I haven't begun to explore 3D) is that in idle up the Blade takes the wind a bit better.
I'm still a rookie so feel free to bust my chops if I'm wrong.

Well you know how I feel about the V3..................(view movie ) bloody great!!

Rob_T,
Just put a Pico Board Pro in my Hummer. Brilliant unit although had to remove the heading hold module as tail motor and servo not up to it - well I didn't really expect it to be.

I love my little V3 it is very fun to fly indoors and I just had my first crash with it. I broke some head parts, ordered the parts for $11.00 and will be flying it again next week with the jet ranger fuse on it....
I also bought a blade cp and it is more nerve racking hovering it in a small place than the v3. I don't know why as they are the same size birds.... I would like to try a better radio in it and see what it's like with that...

Tom..... No "D" flying....

Is the V3 3D capable?

Can the V3 be converted to the 3D Pro?

Thanks,

I think the Elite V3 can be converted to CP but you still have a tail motor. Possibly will do mild inverted tricks. 3D pro is quite different with tail drive shaft etc.

The hb v3 is a fixed pitch heli it will hover, fly and crash.....LOL It is not for 3d flying and you would be wasting your money if you are looking for something like the v3 to convert to a 3d heli. The v3 is just a good indoors heli to play with and to get used to the things a heli needs to fly.... It's just a fun little bird to play with............

The only parts that are compatable between V3 and 3D Pro are the fly bar and fly bar paddles (the V3 one is actually "better"). If you keep that 2 parts, and yes the rest can be converted to 3D Pro using 3D Pros parts.

Wow she flies nice!

Just test flew my V3 virtually stock- stock motors, 2 x HS55, Piccoboard (with HH module) and 2S 1900 lipo. Hovered in the living room (not much space, should have used the family room instead!) First impression is it's both more responsive and more stable than my Piccolo Fun. I'm really looking forward to having the Airwolf body on it, should be a fun little indoor and calm weather outdoor flyer.

Had a little vibration so I've got some balancing to do still, but that was the only problem. Next task- start stripping off the landing gear and put on some mounting points for the retracts in the Airwolf kit. So far I'm pleased with my decision to use a V3 rather than the Piccolo I already had.

Wow, I'd almost forgotten how much quieter FPs are compared to CPs!

V3 definately fun flying.
I've been flying mine outside with
quite a bit of wind and it really does some crazy up
and downs.
So, if you can fly this one in the wind,
then the bigger ones seem so much more easier.
Skeeter, when are you going to put some of the videos up
to see you flying the real ones?
Those pics you posted were great, I like the one where it's
on the lawn, alot!

I tried to buy a V3 from the Australian Century dealer yesterday.
But I couldnt, as they arent selling them!!
They are selling a copy called a "Twister". Fine, how much is the heli, no TX.........."sorry, dont sell em seperate and that will be $250 thanks"
I dont think so mate.
I bought a plank instead from another dealer (slow stick) for $150 arf with radio and batteries.
I wanted a fun heli that I didnt stress about, but that was still decent quality, and the Twister is not up to the Century IMO.
I dont know why the Aussie market is so backward, its a shame really.
I'd buy one direct from the US except that it would be the wrong frequency for us
Jealous of you guys now lol.

If you bling it, they will come :D

JoelStolarski,
Sorry for delay, it's a bit of a busy time work wise coming up to Christmas but I have not forgotten and will definately put some snippets up soon. All the best SP.

Gorn,
We have the Twister here in the UK. I bought my HummerV3 about 18 months ago and a friend bought the Twister. The Hummer was definately the better machine although the Twister electronics are pretty good. The servo's were slow and the plastic seemed lower grade but they have modified them and now they have beaten Century in releasing a cp version 100% ready built and complete with tx, 2 x Li-po 3 cell 1000mAh packs and charger (with balancer I believe) all for £199.99. I would imagine they have got there act together and even the fp must be a better machine than the old generation.

My friend had a large smack with his fp Hummer and the replacement parts were going to cost £59.00 so he decided to buy a v3 kit which come ready built with motors for £60.00. Oddly he could not get on in the uk (wonder why? ) so he ordered one from the US, it arrived today taking only four days, which is probably what it would take if ordered from uk, and the whole lot including shipping and import duty was £61.00. Could you not get one from the us and fit the twister electronics? surely they will sell that separately!
