Yes,

That's exactly what i said. It could be that the hub will not able to hold the screws if the screws are very good. What is the threadhold point? I don't know but I am saying if the screws are stronger, it may not solve the problem. That's all. I do not just give theories, I saw it in real life.

For you, are you sure if the new screw is in, the hub will not break?

Also see thread about SE screws being of poor quality. Some mentioned not to over tighten the screws or use good quality hex drivers, but it is now obvious that Align is just using junk screws...

I got one of these new tails assemblies a few weeks ago and sent it back because I think Align has designed it wrong. All of the strength in this unit is in the screw which isn't really acceptable. The unit I got had the bearings installed in the grips untrue so it didn't work properly anyway.

In the end I bought the MH version with the steel hub and am very happy with it.

If you want to stick with Align use the black plastic tail griped unit or the CNC'd version that was released previously to this latest unit.

Ok man...

sorry.

not specifically coming at you TheX...

just seemed to be a bunch of confusion (especially initially in the thread) about what was being discussed and what folks were saying.

no hard feelings towards you or anyone else... was just trying to make all clear..............

cheers

I have SHATTERED the hub of the Duzi unit with a headspeed of 3200 RPM using carbon tail blades ....... no crashes, third flight ....... I know from EXPERIENCE that the Duzi unit will fail with carbon tail blades !

hmmm..

well there goes that plan...

i will be sure in that case to keep it under 2800-2900 rpms.... at least if i'm gonna run the CF tail blades.

at that high headspeed i've found the stock tail blades do work really well. only difference i've noticed between them and the CF's is the amount of deflection when stopping fast piros on a dime.

the CF's hold that stop to a teenie/tiny amount of tail deflection. whereas the plastics allow a bit of deflection wag (its pretty small and not really uncontrolled by any means) but nonetheless, it is more than with the CF blades.

think i'll stay away from any CF blades with high headspeeds for now.

thanks for the information and warning Mike, appreciate it .

yeah...

along with the rotorworkz frames, this Duzi tail is probably the nicest of the aftermarket pieces i've purchased for the Trex.

just informational, i'm going to try out the Align frame (primarily for the bling--- i was able to get my hands on one with the Blue CNC blocks) nothing against charley-- love his frames, just time for a change for awhile.

Greg,

How does that work, do you contact the supplier that you purchased the original part from?

Thanks,

Are the new screws visibly different than the ones that are breaking?
If so, could somebody post a pic of them so we can tell if newer kit shipments come with the newer screws?

I got the new screws from Andy almost immediately after I sent him an email. Very impressive service.

The screws look just like all other black-oxide socket cap screws that I've ever seen. I think it is the quality/grade of the steel that is different.

I just spoke with Andy and he has run out of screws. It will be at least another week before he gets more in. You can use a regular hardened socket head 2X10mm screw, but you'll need to trim it down to 9mm. If you've emailed him and not received some screws yet, just be patient, he's got more on the way.
