Is the Revo CP Hobby Lobby is selling just a Shogun by another name or is it something better? In the videos it has better cyclic response than my V1.

Hi there, its the same except for a CCPM head. Tail as the per the V1 so expect the gears to strip.

Warning...This hobby is very addictive and may damage your wealth

Revo

I live near HL and have purchased several of the revo parts to repair my Zoom 400 (Shogun clone). The parts are very resonable but not all will fit the shogun/Zoom.... The Head is a little different, the main shaft is not the same...as it doesn't use the collective rod running up the shaft.

But many of the parts are interchangable.....

It does cost $149 using gears instead of belt drive. But I have seen it fly and it performs very well.....plus HL has very good support....

mjdee14,

Hobby Lobby now has the Revo on sale for $99. I like my Shogun but the cyclic response is to slow for me.

I think the cyclic response of any Shogun is slow because it has flybar weights built into paddle holders. Every other micro or mini class heli does not have this.
The paddles just clamp direct to the flybar, meaning less spinning weight creating centrifugal force, which makes direction changes slower and harder.
Take the stock paddles and holders off the flybar, get some paddles from another micro class heli, add a little cyano, clamp em on, and I think you will find a very responsicve heli lurking there
Costs you next to nothing to try it, and then if your still not happy....get a different heli.

If you bling it, they will come :D

Gorn,

I put a T-Rex flybar and paddles on the Shogun. While it is somewhat better, the cyclic is still to slow. I like the size and power to weight ratio of the Shogun, but I like the cyclic response of the T-Rex.

try getting lighter aluminum flybar paddle weights. I've noticed quicker cyclic responses immediately.......Otherwise, i totally agree with u with regards to the weight and power ratio......Revo , shogun, 3dx, zoom looks all the same platform to me....to be honest..

Although the Revo CP is very much like the Shogun, there are some nice improvements. The Revo has ball link ends on all the linkages instead of Z-bends. The frame is fiberglass instead of plastic. The head uses mCCPM and doesn't have a hollow main shaft. Both a gyro and tail servo mount comes on the boom. The boom is a nice black color. The landing gear is wider. Comes with wood main blades.

I got lucky and bought mine for $69 and feel like I sold it.

The head set up of the Revo CP is different from the Zoom and has much quicker and firmer cyclic response.

Overall, there are so many improvements making the heli basically slop free and in my opinion, it is a totally different heli from the Zoom.

I've got the belt upgrade kit but at the moment, I see no reason to rush to the upgrade. Never seen a tail gear strip unless in a crash.
