My Posts This: Topic Forum | Hi, folks.
im not godd englisch spelling but i hope you could understand what i write. Using swedish englisch lexikon.
Some history about me, i start flying heli in 1986-1987. My first heli Falcon 888. I never fly that time just hovering auround.
One year ago i buy my raptor 60 v2 and TT70 engine. After a cuple of flights i found out it could be very expensive With fuelcost, so i start to find out another way to fly cheaper.
I now a person in sweden build own electric ignition system to smaller radiocontrolled aircraft. the system name is "rontronic" see this link: http://www.westonuk.co.uk/run.html
I check with frends on swedish rc-forum: www.rcheli.se
and them dont belive i wos possible to use this system in helicopter.
no one in sweden has testing this in helicopter before. them told me, To use gas in smaller engine dont produse enough power to fly heli on gasoline. Them has wrong. see my video: http://www.boppis.se/video/raptor_gasser_grusgrop.wmv
I buy this system and start to install that i my heli. you can see som pictures i my gallery on runryder and in swedish forum.

it was wery easy to build this in, i have to fabric an holder to the sensor on engine. the sensor told the system the ignition point. I have a photo in my swedish gallery how i mont the sensorhold.
The swedish builder of this runtronic system build his own sparkplug and i burn this sparkplug after 1 hour flying. so i find better sparkplug on internet i us. se link: http://www.morrisonandmartin.com/sparkplugs.htm
and this sparkplug working wery wel.
My engine produse alot of heat running on car gasoline, that is my biggest problem whith this conversion. First i use 6% oil mix and after 6 hour flying my piston crack. The engine hawe not enough lubricationwit 6% oil. After that i use 14% oil mix (2-stroke oil) and no problem after that.
I still have small problem with the heat. The thread in muffler has broken a cuple of times depending on the heat make the aluminium weak.
Now i have purchase a zimmerman muffler build in stainless steel an that endure the heat better. ( i have not get this yet).
I have now flying more than 20 hour on my conversion and have no bigger problems.
My first attempt i use 98 oktan gasoline but i smell so mutch in my apartment so i running whit alternative gasoline, se link: http://www.aspen.se/Templates/standard1.asp?PN=108920
This fuel is 2.5 time more expencive than regular car gasoline but not smelling and have higher oktan, 102 oktan. so i use this fuel (seelink above) but in sweden it have another name, aspen race fuel.
In sweden model fuel with 10% nitro /15%oil cost $46 us /5 litre.
My aspen fuel cost $24 us /5 litre 14% oil (no nitro).
And i flying 3 time longer on aspen.
The nedle setting on carburetor. on model fuel 2.5 turn out and on aspen 1/2-3/4 turn out. The nedle setting was wery sensitive on aspen fuel, two snapp to lean or two snapp ritch its make the engine to lose power.
Performance.
Gear setting. engine 11T, rotor 93T (8.45).
rotor rpm: 1700 hovering
flying 35-40 minute on 450cc tank
The power is not enough to do hard 3D- flying but to practise, learning manoeuver, loop, roll, stallturn, backwards flying, inverted flying works wery well.
So now i flying cheaper when i start to learning backwards flying.
Now i has try to decribe abut my conversion, if you have more question i tray to ansver. ( may be little shorter letter).
I hope you ounderstan what i wrote.
