Hey guys, have any of you ever been approached by someone from either Quixtar or Amway? I have a buddy at work that's been trying to get me into Quixtar for some time now. Share your experience.

I've come across these guys several times over the years and noticed one funny thing, I've never met one that was ahead of me financially. (and that isn't saying very much) Relax, he'll be out of it in two years or so then maybe he'll be a better pal. Then at that time you can introduce him to r/c choppers and really break him...

Hey Viperhawk,
You're right. You're not the only one. I can totally relate to your story because it happened the exact same way with me.

Yeah, that situation does suck (business vs personal)... But network marketing does work for some of us.

Oh, is that whats it's called? Since I've always been on the receiving end of the "marketing" push....I have different terminology for it.

Cop: Sir, have you been drinking? Driver: Why? Is there a fat girl in my backseat?

Have worked with a few of these people when I worked at Boeing. I also have a cousin involved along with her husband starting "their business". A multi level marketing scheme. I have bought a few products from them, expensive but the products were okay. They seem to spend most of their time trying to manipulate others to join below them and start their own business, so that they can move up the chain. It seems like they try to sell a lifestyle that is envisioned by the company, yet they themselves have not attained it. Hmmmmmm

Funny story...

Years back ,while baby-sitting the grounded EAL fleet in Las Vegas, one of the Customer service drivers for the FBO (an Amway "salesman") was driving a brand new Dodge Courtesy van/Follow me truck on the ramp. He evidently had a brief case full of Amway propaganda in the passenger seat. As he drove by one of our B-757's his papers began to fly around in the truck. He evidently tried to gain control of the papers as he lost control the the Truck. He drove into the number 1 engine at about 50 MPH (total damage $2,800,000 after the dust settled) . I think he had a lot more time for Amway after that

Heh, that's crazy!

But I do agree some MLMers get extermely annoying and rude. Hopefully, I'm not one of those people. I've got a lot of irons in the fire so I don't push my MLM business as much as I could/should.

Success leaves clues and many successful businessmen have multiple businesses/streams of income. So I'm just trying to follow their lead and one specific MLM company just made sense to me.

Sounds like pyramid selling to me. Anyone with a bit of sense knows that the only people who make money are the one or two who thought of it first.

I heard that businesses like this are illegal in UK.

mondeo_man, You couldn't be more incorrect.

Oh and also, it's not illegal in the UK. The reason I know this is because my business is in the UK.

None...fortunately. That way, we can buy the helis we want from whereever we want to without having to become a "business owner." Could you imagine how high the prices would be? Crazy.

Around 1982 Imet this incredible looking woman thru work. She was eveything I thought perfect in a woman.
Great looks, personality, she had it all EXCEPT - her father was a part time Amway distributor and so was she. It soon became apparent I was just another recruit. I exited that scene real fast.

These types of businesses are dependent upon recruiting in order to push yourself up the ladder. If you don't recruit you die. There is a high drop out rate.

Get a new friend who isn't soley intetested in how much $$ he can make off you.

Same deal with Mary Kay cosmetics. My daughter dropped $3500 (of my money) to get started in that. I should have looked into it more closely, instead of taking at face value the sales pitch of the douche bag who recruited Ainsley. ShempHoward, you're absolutely correct; those schemes are all about stepping on others to push oneself upward in the organization.

I should have known better; but the things you do for your kids...
