It would be easier to just run the Trex tail gear assembly if you didn't want to run off the main shaft/pulley.

Did some work with the prototypes, I few details left to sort out and I need to the hole position slightly.

Here are two Pics of what they look like. I had white plastic on hand, for the prototypes.

Still waiting on the gears and belts to get farther into this.

That's where it's at.

Must fiddle with everything!

Finally I got my Shogun V2 Frame from LHS today. Here is how the mod going with mounting the 3D Pro frame into the Shogun frame and use the Shogun V2 belt drive tail.

Here is how it compares with the other half of the frame that's un-cut.

Here is looking from the inside, showing the little L shape adaptor plate I made from 1/2" X1/2" stock aluminum.

If I have time tomorrow I will finish the frame mod and start to put the whole thing together.

Garage Flyer, firstly I will say please dont take this the wrong way mate.
But....if your going to that extent of using another chassis, why not just fly a Shogun?
I ask, cos I just dont understand the extent that you are going to with the Shogun frame.
I love that people are developing the Pro, so dont take it the wrong way.
Just scratching my head here

If you bling it, they will come :D

I'll give you credit for creativity but its not practical. It would be much better to go with a Trex.

Good question. 2 answers depending on which camp you are in.

If you are a 3DP flyer then you want the belt tail drive. Shogun offers a V1 to V2 conversion kit at $65. It includes the frame, tail boom, boom mount, gearbox, pulley. All you need would be the tail blade grip, blades, lever, and, yoke, and also the Shogun landing gear. The end result is the XL version of the 3DP.

If you are in the Shogun camp. many there complained about the mechanical mixing. 3DP head will provide much crisp cyclic control. Also the price for Shogun blings are way too high. The 3DP blings are reasonably priced. So Shogun people can have a better bird for cheaper. This is more like an eCCPM for shogun.

About cutting the frame. Looks like a lot of work. Shogun owners know how soft their frames are. All I used was a body trimming scissors to cut it. wasn't much work at all. I think the end result would be the best marriage in the micro world.

Yes, I thought about T-Rex as well. After all, I am the garage_flyer and need something that will fly in my garage. I would need to buy a T-Rex and shrink it. Not to mention the T-Rex was more expensive to begin with.

It does look cool.

What good is the 3D pro for flying in the garage? A little FP is just as good.

Anyways, I think when you get it all done you will have a cool GF conversion heli.

keep the updates coming.

Done in the ARF form. Now I have a belt drive tail 3D Pro, or a eCCPM Shogun V2. Either way you call it. My biggest worry is the gear won't mesh. It's actually meshing very well. I think it works better than it was in the Shogun ARF form. I still need to go to the hardware store to find a spacer to fill in the gap of the crown gear. Then I will put the gear on for a test fly.

Here is weight comparison. All helis were weighted in ARF form + motor. No servos and electronics. 3D Pro comes in at 7.1 Oz, Shogun V2 = 10.5 Oz. Mod frame alone = 2 Oz. Moded bird = 9.9 Oz. It may hit 10 Oz as I finalize all the bolts and nuts.

Time to total the cost. 3D Pro kit = $109

Shogun belt conversion kit $65

http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165299.asp

Shogun skids $5

http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165152.asp

Tail blade grip $10

http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165122.asp

shogun landing struts $9

tail rotor hub $4.50

tail pitch yoke $12

http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/165124.asp

can't find tail blade on their web site

pitch lever $4.50

If you have a 3DP already, the total is $110 + tail blades. Not too bad. Also ReRazor used the 3DP's tail blades and grips on a Shogun gearbox. That will cut the price down to $83.50. Not bad at all.
