My Posts This: Topic Forum | make sure you are powering the 4in1 down after each change of the pots, it only recognizes your changes on POWER UP.
Lift off and hover, take your finger off of the left gimble, observe what happens
1.) Heli nose turns left ---> increase proportional
2.) Heli nose turns right --> decrease proportional
(power down!!!)
3.) heli points straight --> proportional is set correctly (for FULL charge, as the battery dies, you will have to add RIGHT trim to maintain tail power)
Now that that is set, lets set gain.
Hover, does the tail "wag"
Climb out, does the heli kick left tremendously (some is ok)
End climbout by drastically reducing collective (let heli fall), does it turn right drastically?
Remember all of these things....if the tail is kicking out a lot, you probably need a little more Gyro gain, if the tail is wagging, you probably need less gain (gyro is hunting back and forth looking for the perfect position, which it cant find, so you decrease gain).
Thats all there is to it with a rate gyro.....when you fly circuits the tail WILL weathervane around with the helicopter, no getting around that unless you drop a heading hold in it.
I can promise you though, the standard 4 in 1 is MORE than capable of putting out enough tail power to keep the thing pointing straight, but it does take some fine tuning -- and it does change as the battery dies. (Lithium batts maintain a much more constant voltage during discharge so this is much less of a concern with them). |
