More........

I will tell you this I am here at my own discression. Did I open up a can a worms sure I did, For every ney sayer of our products there are at least a 500 positive notes for our products. There are many people that have had great experience with our stuff. I know the staff has some of the best hands on knowledge and can help with any of your challenges from radio, gyro, helicopter setup. They each have personal experience with the difficulties experienced by newcomers and old timers alike.

We look forward to going flying after a hard days work, just like all you.

i used to defend qww when people hung crap on them. not any more.
i liked the heli, it was a good machine .

i guess every heli has its problems, my quicks just had lots:

blew 2 clutches up. at the joint. after 10 flights.
one way bearings
tail counter gears
stripping threads in half the alluminuim, and not even doing it up tight
CRAP head dampening.
parts missing in kits
list goes on
i built about 5 qww helis all up, and i know people that have had same problems as me.

once they are flying, they do fly nice. but they werent my cup of tea.

another problem was the aussie distributor closed. i could get parts from over seas. but i just wanna fly, not waist time waiting for parts.
i now fly rappys.
quick helis arent bad, but they have a bad rep.
if things ever improve, i might buy another one, but for now, i will stick to the rappys.

I have only had one QWW part, a rappy 30/50 swash plate. Unfortunately it failed 30 seconds in the first flight. The screw holding the ball for the swash mix link ripped out of the plate.
Lucky I used this on the swash mix and not the pitch link otherwise I would have lost the heli instead of just having cyclic issues.
I never say don't get QWW, but I show them the swash plate, mention that it may be a one off event and let them decide.
I have to agree on the getting a reputable flyer to endorse these things or train a young fella / few fellas at the factory (young kids learn a lot faster than older kids at heart). Let them fly the guts out of every heli every day a few hours in the afternoon towards knockoff. When they gets good, stick them in a few comps/ demonstrations and show the helis off. Look at what the Szabos have done for TT.
This will do wonders for feedback on your engineering as well.

Discounting Irwin, whom I have never talked to, I've found QWW and the Quick 50 to be problem free.

All three orders I have placed have been good without any drama or anything other than the parts I needed. Chuck and Jon have been pleasent and knowledgable over phone and email.
I have not made any orders through the web site ... I email or call instead of trusting web site ordering from anyone other than a major company like Tower Hobby.

The Quick 50 Pro I have flies great. It's a smooth solid flyer that draws attention from other flyers whenever I fly it. If there is any nit picky thing wrong about it, it;s that the Pro version should come with shorter flybar to hiller arm links for 3D pitch settings. I had to buy aftermarket adjustable links for it.

I would love to see a good 3D pilot put a Quick through some hard 3D manuevers, just to see if the heli is as capable as I think it will be.

Stefan got ordered here for sure because of this thread:

http://runryder.com/helicopter/p1476290/

You can also see Irwin and his "wonderful" attitude in full flight, although I expect he will have calmed down and edited by the time most of you get there. Quotes such as this:

we are a serious company with more experience in Nitro & EP than any company in the world. Take you hobby serious ask serious question not more rhetric only hurting our company & our ability to sell great machines...your guys are the real lossers....

Sounds like someone I would love to deal with, where do I sign??

How long have they been on the go, what about Hirobo or Kyosho.

Now IIRC the Shuttle and Concept where revolutions in model helicopter history, the first ones to make the 30 size viable, does QWW have anything they can claim that compares like that - no not really.

So quickWW is the only company out there making metal helis, hmmm I wonder why it says hirobo on the side of my RG then.

Personally I like plastic parts, if its in a crash they usually survive or snap, thats it, with metal it can bend and thats not always noticable so you may put it back on a model when you should really replace it.

If your quick heli’s are so much better than the rest. Why ant the best pilots using them? Or most of the other pilots that fly in the world
Maybe you have a crap marketing team you can blame it on, when they name a heli BIG BERTHA. Maybe it will fly when the fat lady sings
Or is it that they just look cheap and non appealing.
Or is it you just got a bad rap from selling crap.
It’s great to see you got 500 good comments about them, but what about the 1700 odd bad ones under the QWW posts section

I,ll take one if you give me a 30 day money back gaurantee and that it doesnt have to come back in the same condition it left the factory.

QWWStephan:

It seems there is a perceived difference between what you're claiming, and what at least some people have experienced with your products. You are free to claim what you wish, of course, but these claims must be backed up with reality. Otherwise, your comments will be perceived as empty boasting in an attempt to cover up problems.

I am a relatively new flyer (and have never owned a QWW product), but I can appreciate the points that some have brought up.

You (or any r/c helicopter manufacturer, for that matter) need to do the following (not given in any particular order) to prove what you're claiming:

a) provide a machine that has the weaknesses 'designed out' as much as possible, and that performs well.
b) have your machines tested and evaluated by others outside your company
c) provide fast response to flyers (via dealers, web site, distributors, etc.) of repair parts. That means no 'back orders'. That means dealers that are knowledgable about the product - not just 'sales clerks'.
d) listen to user complaints, and incorporate them into design improvements; also, where appropriate, provide free replacements / retrofits if / when serious weaknesses are discovered.
(others may have additional points to add to this list, but I believe these are the important ones)

Judging by the complaints posted on this thread, much of the above has not been happening - despite what you are claiming.

Hey qww,
I have a metal head for my raptor 30 v-i. Everything went smooth up until I went to put the seesaw on. What did you people do stop engineering the head when you got to seesaw set up? I have had Irwin send me different parts for trying to anchor the seesaw in the exact middle of the yolk with no success at all. I am flyingthe thing and it looks as if I am flying on a bent main shaft because the fly bar is not centered on the yolk> What gives with the set up MAN???????!!!!!!!!

The problem with the blades are the bolt holes are not 90 degrees to the blades and in order to get them to track there is a 2 degree difference between the 2 sides, ie +1 degree on one blade and -1 degree on the other.

Another one saved!

Where are you flying up there, Mark?

I lived up there for many years. We flew planks off the old duster strip between Monroe and Sterlington on US 165 @ La 134; then began the Northeast Aero R/C "Flying Tigers" club out at Start in Richland parish. I understand that club, which eventually moved to the old landfill on New Natchitoches Road, has fallen upon hard times.

I didn't get into helis until I moved down here, BTW.

Hey Steve. I actually just joined the Flying Tigers about a month ago. I've been flying a Hawk Sport for the past six months or so. The field is actually doing well now. We've built two new canopies and a new runway for the plankers is in the works (no time soon though). We have a fun group out there. Check us out at www.nearcflyingtigers.com.

I love the concept of the Quick machines. Who wouldn't want a helicopter with a lot of nice, machined bling right out of the box? I just can't help but refrain from developing a fever for them due to all of the problems that I've read about on here.

Shuttlepilot. Thanks for the info. I never was in the market for a Quick helicopter (probably never will be now!). I just happened to pass by this thread to see what the commotion was all about. I fly a Hawk Sport that flies wonderfully for a cheaper machine. I haven't noticed any rediculous bragging by the Century reps in their threads. They just seem to be on the forums to help. This Stefan guy has done a bad thing for Quick. They need to "tame" him a bit.

See this rant and you will see what the QWW owner think of his customers.

I would not buy anything from this dude. If you want a Quick Japan see:

Harold is a good guy and will help you out and say thanks for your business and support.

The Hawk Sport is a decent beginner's machine. Lots of "old heads" fly them too, because they fly well and are so inexpensive.

When you're ready to get a "better" ship, there are all sorts of good choices; plenty enough so you don't have to put up with nasty dispositions and product quality/customer service that is spotty, at best.

Glad to hear the club is doing well; I was one of the seven charter members back in 1988.

Dankers,

I bought mine off eBay for $250. At the time, I didn't know about all the QWW drama/reputation. All I saw was a nice solid looking CF framed heli posted for sale on eBay. I did do some checking on the heli before hand, but didn't see these posts on RR.

I really wish I can compare it directly to other helis, but I haven't convinced the local Korea flyers to let me fly thier Mode 2 models. Heh.
