Pardon me if this subject has already been discussed. Along with a lot of other Blade pilots out there, I too have been burning off tail motors at an unacceptable rate. Although to be fair, I am learning to hover nose in and have been quite hard on them.
I went to pick up a couple of Eflite replacement motors today and my local store was out of stock. Being impatient as always, I looked around for an alternative. I found a motor manufactured be Century with P/N CNE256 "High performance tail motor" N30. Not sure which micro heli it comes from. It cost $5 more.
Initial install and ground checks are sucessful. Just waiting for my packs to charge. Anybody have and experiences with this motor in the Blade CP?

Riverman - so what part about nose-in hovering is hard on the tail motor? Is it the part where it backs in to the ground or the part where it chases you down?

If anyone is interested, the above mentioned tail motor works just as well, if not slightly better than the stock tail motor. If is still just as prone to having thes armature's bushing pulled out, though. I found that out when I struck a 1inch stone with the tail rotor. I epoxied the bushing back in. We'll see how long it takes to burn out.
For any other pilot's learning to fly fling wing, I found a simple way to protect the tail rotor/motor from "carpet strikes" as I like to call them. If you're like me, you've probably purchased a crash kit, or two, or three... Cut the forward side of a spare tail skid off from the curved end up to and including the vertical strut joint. Slide the skid onto the tail boom anti strike strut with the curved end facing backwards. I;ve found this to work great from a learner's stand point.
