My Posts This: Topic Forum | Ok, empirical tests will come tomorrow....too tired to soldier right now....read on.
After seeing the replacement 4:1 units at the LHS (they have a clear case, bad idea Horizon, lol), I had the suspicion that it was a THREE in ONE unit sandwitched to a reciever....So after flying tonight i got to hacking on the stock all back 4:1 in my blade.
Well....success....there is a 6 pin header that connects the throttle and rudder receiver channels to the ESC/MIXER/GYRO that is a seperate board. The only connection between the 2 is through those 2 receiver channles so there is no doubt in my mind that you will get full functionality without even having to put a 3rd party gyro in (great weight savings). I WILL PROVE THIS TOMORROW (unless somebody beats me to it, lol).
This is also great news for those with glitching problems (likely b/c ESC too close to receiver), now you can put some distance between the two even if you want to keep the 4:1.
I had to hack up my black box but that was because I was unsure if the receiver to 3:1 connection was soldiered or what so i had to explore....you could probably just be careful and seperate them nicely with no damage to anything though.
I did check RR and the web and i have not seen this info posted so I assume it is new, if not, sorry, but I'm still excited, get to use my 8103 now (want consistency between nitro and blade).
Back of 3in1 unit (this is where it plugs into receiver)

Back of reciever where 3in1 plugs in (basically just throttle and rudder servo ports, but coming out the wrong side of the PCB)
