I've never dealt with Irwin or quick helicopters, but the post this guy just put up assures that I'll never even think about dealing with him ever.

I think Irwin is doing what he can to fix the problems in the past. So just give the guy some room to work things out

It's not so much him trying to fix past problems, it's his attitude to his client base.
He can have as much room as he needs, but for him and his employees to come on here(or anywhere else) and rant at us and call "my" heli's 'plastic junk', well frankly I dont care how good or bad his products may or may not be, he can stick them where the sun dont shine!

I work as an air-conditioning service engineer and I am the front line of the company I work for (example Stefan) and I have to deal with a lot of people that have no concept of how an a/c system operates. Probably more of my job is 'people management' than it is fixing faults. They asume you switch it on and it works, if it breaks and I turn up to fix it on a random callout, it was my fault it broke. Sometimes stuff just doesnt work (or our engineers did a cr@p job of an install!!) (I'm sure many of you have been in a similar situation or can see the similarities)

Regardless how stupid the customer may be or how bad our job was we have an obligation to be nice to them and to do our best to make them happy, Full stop.
Imagine how far my company would get if I turned to a customer and said "That fujitsu a/c system you got there is junk, why did you buy that cheap plastic crap??"

The fact it was half the price, has a higher eficiency, is smaller, lighter and uses less power than the one we normally sell is pretty much irelevent, you simply can not say that to a customer.
You can however, with careful wording and good PR sometimes sell your own product as a superior product in replacement or as an additional product to their exsisting setup

I have been flyin helis since 1999, just before the Taya design
came out. And when the Raptor hit the streets I got some. (5)
Still have 3 of them!
As a newbie I tried the HHI line and Irwin gave me 50% off
to build and review his QUICK 30, OS32 SXh 550's.
I had been flying about two years at that time.

I still have the Quick 30 and do fly it occasionally.
It is metal, it is heavier that the 'plastic' "designs".
It flys allright.
I have moved on to the more 'precision' machines
and also own A Min Air Fury Expert and a Bergen Intrepid 50.
Considering my shogun and the rappys, I actually have 6 flyable
airworthy machines sittin around.

But, here on this now PUBLIC forum, I must ask IRWIN to please
remove my review from his website.

I feel his frustration both with the foreign suppliers and the
incredible premadonna's here on the RR forum. But I cannot
continue my relationship with a 'gentleman' who writes a public
letter like the one in this thread.

One of the respondents mentions that the Better idea may have
been to keep truckin and quietly IMPROVE both service and
quality, not yell at the helicopter clientele.

As a result of the LETTER, I must disassociate my self from
this man. Irwin, immediately and without hesitation, please
remove my review from your Website.

I have had the Quick 30 for 4 seasons now. If you want it back
please pay for the shipping and my labor to build it, along with
the 1/2 price off retail that I originally paid for it.

Sincerely,
Byron L. Head, Omaha, Nebraska

His nasty atitude goes way back. He won't ever change. About 14-15 years ago I was in his shop when it was located in North Jersey. All it took was one visit to realize how abusive and arrogant he was to both me and a friend. That cured the both of us. I never went back and neither has my friend.

So , Helicopter ,
If you want your review removed from Irwins web site , why didn't you just email him with your request rather than make a big deal over it on a public forum ? Or did you already ask and he refused ?
Just for the record , I purchased a Quick60 metal pro two years ago from HHI . There where no missing parts , every thing fits , the machine flys very well and I am happy with it . I have only ordered spares once , an alternative pinion gear and new main gear , I received exactly what I ordered in good time .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

I don't know why I keep posting about the never ending Quick saga

But here it goes again....

I have a Quick heli and have been flying it for several years. I have always been very pleased with the design and flight characteristics. Yes, it is heavier than my old raptor...but it is also more precise. No, it is not as good as a Fury or C-Spec but it also doesn't cost $2000.00.
People keep comparing this heli to other kits that cost 3 times as much.

Thus IMHO, in the PRICE RANGE of ~350.00 (Make note of that last bit), The Quick kit is the best heli deal going.

As far as support is concerned. I have always had very positive experiences when I order replacement parts. Usually I end up speaking with Chuck (who knows his stuff). I have only dealt with Irvine once and admittedly he was insulting. (I had a part failure and he suggested that if I maintained the kit properly it wouldn't have happened) However, he did send me the replacement part for free!

In conclusion. I think the Quick heli is a pretty good kit. It flies well, looks good, and is a reasonable price. I think Quick's reputation has been seriously harmed by a period of poor quality control compounded by Irvine's personality quirks.

Irvine, if your still reading all of this.... If you want to turn this rep around, 3 things need to occur. First, hire or promote someone in your company to run PR. Too many people in the heli community have a negative perception of you. Find a "new face" for QWW.
Second, instead of discounting kits and such.... Hire a solid 3D pilot and support him going to local flying events. Don't go with him and, don't instruct him on what to do. Let the pilot do his own thing and fly the the heli. Let the heli speak for itself.
Finally, keep working on quality control. It only takes 1 person receiving an incomplete kit to destroy any work you may be doing to improve QWW's reputation.

You have a good heli design...you just need to stop getting in the way of it!

Ya missed my point.
Think it through one more time please.

HE wrote the bash note ENOUGHsquared.

My name has been associated with his website since
at least 2002.

I do not condone nor agree with these tactics.

I publicly stated so.

Thank you for asking.

we will see

I am going to receive a big bertha pro kit from irwin very soon... after I receive it I will be doing a review on it.. from the building stages to overall quailty on the unit... I have never had a quailty issue with irwin.. my only grip was paying 9 dollars for a 60 cent stamp for shipping. Irwin has stood up and fixed that problem....... I am really looking forward to starting this build and hope it will prove to me as well as others that qww is a quailty manufacturer of rc helis. p.s. im receiving no kick backs at all on this.. I actually like the way this heli looks and am buying it for me... irwin has nothing to do with this review. if it sucks I will be the first to say it. Joe

I think Irwin makes a good point point about people posting negatively about his product and services without ever having experienced it themselves, and he does have a point about everyone sitting on the forum all day instead of working!!!!

A lot of these guys work real hard, and they make mistakes just like everybody else does. I bought a $30K Honda the other day, and had issues with the Dealer and the car, do i sit around and bash Honda, or South Motors? No, they corrected their mistakes, and I moved happily on my way. If any of you never make mistakes at work, then you are foolish liars in denial.

I think if we all just sleep one night before posting a negative rant about a vendor, then this forum would be a better place. This is not the first vendor to come under the pressure of this forum. Pretty soon Heli lovers will only get to fly Raptors and Furys...

If you give a Chimp a gun, and the Chimp shoots, DONT BLAME THE CHIMP!!!!

Hey Jim!

Hey Jim:
It isn't that my little Q30 is a bad machine, far from it. It really
flys pretty good on 9202's. Dig servo most likely even better
on it's CCPM head. I am keeping it. I simply asked Irwin
to remove my review and therefore my good name from his
website if he was not going to use loving ways to sell his products.
I would prefer to be associated with gentile, calm, astute men
of quality, rather than one who yells and rants.
I was a two year neophyte at the time of the build and hadn't heard
of the siner ways.
Today, I have Both the Bergen and the MAir machines.
His design is heavy in a world where carbon, G10, plastic injected nylon, and titanium are the order of the machinists ways.
A bud o mine got a sweet 16. Nice heli for blue bling.
Ya had to have built a few to understand the how. Not for newbee.
Once built, it was heavy. The lipo 6s4p duece set was $500 dollars
and a batt got hot and died on the first 10 minute spool up!
To keep the big Ebird cost effective an inexpensive chinese batt
set was supplied and it took an act of God to get it R&R'd! Why so?
The bad batt and the bird sits in the corner now. Want THAT one?
Personally, I simply wouldn't have another one, unless Bergen, TTiger
Ralf, Robbe and or Ted were OOB!!!!!!!!!!! Then maybe time to
quit rotors...........

Peace and Love,
By

Funny thing about those raptor tailbooms

If he doesn't care enough to know his own products, how could he support them?

I went to the WRAM show this year, and attempted to buy C/F booms from him for my 50 Raptors. You tell me if this is typical or not.

I saw a sign marked "Rap50" on a cardboard box.
The side of the box, in marker, said "Rap30"
The sign also said "2 for $40"
So I ask the "helper" are these 30 or 50 booms?
The kid calls Irwin over, and, he says "50".
I say, "how much for 2".
Irwin says "$50."
I said "the box says $40".
Silence.

I continue looking at them, and I am befuddled because they look too dang short to be 50 booms.

I ask again, are you sure these are for a 50?
Irwin says "Yes, I make them myself, and they're for the 50"
So, I pony up $40 and buy them.

I hang around a bit at the booth next door, Irwin sees me still looking at them.

He calls over to me and says "I checked them, they're for the 50".

I go home, and, as you may have guessed by now, they're for a 30.

I emailed them immediately about the error in labeling, without being an a$$. NEVER got a response.

He'll clearly never see a dime from me again.

At least it was a cheap lesson. "Knowing" who he was and all the negative chatter about him certainly made me hesitant about buying anything. First hand experience indicates there is significant truth behind the negative chatter. He needs to be run out of the community on a rail.

Hate to drag this topic back up but I will. I am just getting into Electric R/C helis at the moment. Now, although Quick World is not my normal hobby shop in the area I figured I would stop by on my way past and pickup some tools my normal hobby shop doesn't stock.

I stopped at Quick World in Coopersburg, PA and found myself to be very displeased. YES, they do have alot of heli's, and yes their store looks very nice...BUT when I asked for something to adjust ball link length I was surprised with a snooty "we make all of our own tools". The rep showed me a custom made device for setting the length of ball links that cost $50. Thats crazy! Why not just stock someone elses product that is half the cost?

The other item I went in there looking for was a ball link sizing tool. I figured Quick World is a heli store...they have to have one.
I WAS WRONG! I was told, "we do not stock or sell ball link sizing tools." "If your helicopter's ball links were made properly they would not require a sizing tool. Our helicopters ball links are sized properly from the factory."

Interesting way to handle customers isn't it? I wasn't even offered the option to have one ordered for me. I think it is your staff and your snotty "we make our own heli's" attitude that is giving you a bad reputation Irwin. Now I am not aiming this comment at you...just the impression I got from two visits to your store. I WILL NOT be going back a third time and will not be recommending Quick World to any of my heli flying friends.
