Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Raptor 90 to Vigor CS Tail Hub Conversion

The Problem:
After having built my Raptor 90SE I was not happy with the slop in the tail blade grips/bearings which translated to quite a bit of play at the end of the blades tips. I know about the common fixes: sanding blade grip halves and something else I can't remember but didn't seem to fix the job. My Raptor 30 and 50 both have a little play but they are only swinging 85 and 92 mm blades respectively.
The Fix:
Read here on RR and Ricks web site about changing out the hub to the Vigor CS. I ordered the parts from Ricks and installed it today. The hub and blade grip system on the Vigor is a much more beefy design and incorporates two sets of bearings and a thrust bearing in each blade grip. After having completed the project I am extremely happy with the outcome. There is almost zero play in the blades grips and pitch system on the tail. The hub also includes an o-ring to help dampen the system. I have yet to fly this set-up but I feel my 9251 tail servo will do a lot less work.
The new hub from TT is a good improvement and will help against blades flying off, but in my opinion has not addressed the play in the tail system. I have several new hubs coming for my 30 and 50 but felt the same setup on my 90 was a little weak (not strength wise but design wise)

Thanks Stephen for the feedback. So was my problem imaginary or did I just build it improperly? When I go to local funfly's I usually check other Raptors with the owners permission and 95% of them have this unwanted play in the tail. It nice to assume it is all removed in flight but I have yet to see a test that proves this. I know that when I post a potential solution to a problem I am having and aware that others are having it I stand the risk of getting flamed. I was prepared for it but just not so quickly. I have flown this same tail setup when I owned my Vigor and it performed flawlessly. I am aware of the maintenance and the parts involved and the purpose of each of the components in the system. This was offered as a solution to my problem and anyone else looking to cure a similar issue.

I agree with your last post. I have found that the play is more so in the bearings than the blade grips.

If you have play on any helicoptrer between bearing inner race and spindle simply use sleeve retainer.

I have also found that there is play here "between bearing inner race and spindle" but I am not aware of the fix "simply use sleeve retainer". This may have helped the issue.
All in all I am happier with my current setup and feel more comfortable with it.

(Update: Since this post Thunder Tiger came out with the redesigned metal tail rotor hub and I have begun to use this. While the JR design was a tighter setup I find that I can achieve more blade pitch with the TT design. Just thought everyone should know)
