I thought the MRC977 had some quite low cell count limits, so "everything" is stretching it a bit. Even the humble Triton goes to higher cell counts!

Does Schulze ISl6-330D detect the cell number on the packs you plug in? I like Astro 109's that they auto-detect the cell number and all I have to do is selecting the amps. Also, anybody heard of a battery on fire while being charged by a Schulze ISl6-330D?

Schulze ISl6-330d doesn't have auto detection of cell count, but it does detection when the cell volatage is out with the number of cells you've told it its charging

Any idea which charger out there besides Astro 109 that can do auto-detect the cell count?

Well yes, kind of. There is no such thing as auto cell detection when charging Ni* chemisrty cells, since end of charging is based purely on voltage. It does have auto cell count detection when discharging Ni* chemistry cells although it should never be relied upon, I notice its often a cell or two too low.

The multiplex 5014 does 1-5 lipo 1-14 nicad and it sells for about 75.00 has no fan and doesn't get hot and discharges. Also Times out on a charge and has a chime when there done. Not bad for the money. Jimmi

The problem is that chargers require too much mucking about with before they can be used. All I need is a plug and go contraption that thinks for itself. I had a Graupner Ultra Duo and absolutely HATED it. Scrolling through this that and the other. So, what's the idiots best charger for charging them all - plug in and go style?????
I don't cook either cos I burn water!

idiocy and high energy battery charging doesn't really mix that
well.

The Sirius is very nice for Nickel based chemistries but given
the potential of Lithium to go wrong, you MUST put some human
energy into not wanting to be an idiot.

Or keep your home/car fire insurance paid up.

I have a few chargers

Triton
Duratrax Ice
Hobbico Field Charger MK II
Multiplex charger LN2010 MULTIcharger
E-Sky Balance charger

I think the best bang for the buck is the Duratrax ICE, can charge up to 8 amps for lipos.

It's the type of menu selection that I criticise. Scrolling to find a setup etc. Much easier to have a button dedicated to a function or a dial. Some must be more user-friendly than others so, seriously, what's the most user friendly. If you're in a rush you don't want complex procedures!

I have to again recommended the Schulze ISL6-330d. The instructions are crap, but once you understand how to use this charger, its a piece of cake. Just two buttons and setup is very quick.

Got to agree with Dr Lodge

The instructions are crap - but the charger is great and very easy to use when you are used to it.

Right so next is a mains adapter to go with it. I have it down to two choices:
Midland Helicopters part # A-2106 can't see the make but it looks like it says Great Power. Can't get a link to work for this one.

Or this - the Pro Peak,

Any suggestions?
