Good move on the 40t tail pinion. That's what I've been using since day one with the Eco. I'm also flying with Boca tail thrust bearings and hardened M2 screws and so far so good.

I did try the 35t pinion and felt it was spinning too fast. Good luck!

hardened bolts

I bought mine from RTL fasteners, they have a link on the RR home page. McMaster's has them as well but I suspect they're the same bolts. It's possible that I had a bad bolt that broke but more likely I was just asking too much from an M2, even 12.9 hardened steel. I'm going to try out the slower tail drive gear today if the weather holds out(rain in the forcast).

Hello, yeah I got mine from www.mcmaster.com

Do a search at their website for the following part number: 91290A019
$8.80 for a pack of 100 plus shipping. The bolt is 12mm in length. It is slightly longer than necessary. You need to sand it or dremel it shorter in length until you get the proper fit.

If you're running 1675 headspeed, you don't need to speed up the tail rotor.

The 35T tail gear is only necessary when running a headspeed of 1500 rpm or below. I found the tail would become kinda sluggish in one direction, and the 35T tail gear helped immensely.
