The only thing that concerns me about mounting the power panel to the side of any tool box is it can get damaged easily in transport. Especially the way I shove things around. I prefer an angled mounting location for the panel like many of the dedicated field boxes provide.

Right now I have three boxes. One big Stanley mobile cart, one smaller Craftsman toolbox and a Century steel field box. Too much to cart for small excursions but the Century field box works for a quickie flight. When I travel to Lums Pond De I like having everything available so I throw everything in my pickup just in case.

I'm also putting together a second heli so I have another to fly just in case.

$30.00 at ace hardware, cut the ring off bottom tray so fuel jugs would fit and box would lock together.

I just finished my new flightbox, built like Dr. Dan's. Interior wise, it's about the same as his. I chose to mount a "sponson" on the side so the power panel would fit at and angle and I made a removable flight deck. I mounted t-nuts to the underside of the flight deck so Icould secure my EVO with a bar that fits over the skids. Now EVERYTHING can get from the truck to the flight line in one trip. I posted some pic's in my gallery.
Thanks for the inspiration Dr. Dan!

Nice setup!

Where ever did you get that stainless steel front bezel and rear cover for your power panel.
