Ok. I'm bad. First of all, sorry to those who replied to my original post about the SZ-IV rotorhead question.........I had a brainfart.......I have an SD-G rotorhead. I was looking at the decal sheet when typing and that's what it had on it.

So .......... for the SD-G head....the most I can get out of it is +-10 on the collective ( which is fine ), but only 5 degrees each way on cyclic.

If you are getting more, please let me know how.
On the bench, I just tried moving the swash to mixing arm ball on the mixing arm in to the other hole.....it gave an extra 1 or 1 1/2 degrees of cyclic travel, but caused binding at full collective, full cyclic deflection (when tilting the flybar) between the links on the mixing arm so I undid that.

Thanks again to those who PMed me on the previous subject. I have replied back to you.........with apologies.

On the same performance related topic, has anyone tried V-paddles on their evo and do they increase the flip/roll rate compared to the standard paddles with no weights ?

Thanks.

With the metal SD-G head andSD-G washout assembly:

I can get +/- 12 on the collective with the SWM mechanics and the (but dont run that way). The bird real likes +/-10.5 or a bit less. Your cyclic limit will be determined by the two links that connect to the flybar cage as they will bump into the yoke when cyclic is at max throw.

Here is a pic to help. Note the black oil on the main shaft to get an idea how far up the washout is riding at the top end. More in the gallery.

Swash

Is this a true Evo or was it converted?

You need to look at the balls on the swash plate see if they are the short balls or the long ones. I had a similar problem on one of my old sceadu's and had to replace the balls with the shorter versions. That solved the problem.

just installed the SD-G yoke last week, replaced the short balls with long balls on the swash plate as well. The short balls have been there for almost 3 years, since the first Sceadu came out. I was just too lazy to change it...

strangely, I found the max cyclic was increased from +/-5 to +/- 6 degrees while the pitch range is the same as before +/-10.
I do feel that the rolling is obviously faster than before

Thanks for all your input guys.

I went through my whole setup and found a couple places I hadn't got things exactly symetrical. I'm now capable of +- 12 ( although I'm capping it at +11 for autos and -10 for the bottom side of idle 1). My cyclic now has 6 degrees of throw in every direction at full rates.

All is good
