I've seen evo's flying using the two different mounting locations. The manual says to use the higher location so this is how i've set mine up.

Could anyone tell me the advantage of the lower holes? I realise the wing will move forward slightly but is that enough to make a difference?

Thanks

I put mine in the lower location simply to free the upper spot for my header tank

I think that the lower position is a bit more ridgid - leverage and all. I flew my Freya on the top position at first, but a couple of "modest" crashes resulted in bent booms (anyone need a bannana shaped Freya boom or two? ? ? ? ? I can make you SUCH a deal . . . . . ) so I moved to the lower holes. So far, no crashes, but if feels to be better supported.

I fly with mine on the lower position, but last week after flying I noticed one hanging off, the bottom of the frame had just broken away ( not crashed) so I'm moving it to the upper position. i don't think I'll notice any difference.

In lower position it add you the rigidity
Plus in upper position it may damage your servo case in a crash...ask me how I know!

Put a carbon bottom plate and your problems with frame will be solved.

Hi Garry
it actually broke behind where the skid mounts so a carbon plate may not have helped in this particular case. No disrespect meant but by strengthening one area it just means that something else will break. Unless you make the whole heli out of the stuff they make aircraft black boxes out of then they will never be crash-proof
I think I have a spare frame anyway, but I will wait until I do a proper job of breaking it before I swap it out, shouldn't be too long to wait

i use mine in the upper position, and have never had a problem with it.

even with a couple crashes i didnt have any servo damage. may have just been lucky

overall, i like the way it looks a little bit better with the struts up higher. but to me the way it looks is almost as important as the fucntionality, and i will risk a little damage for it

Upper Location!

I mounted the boom supports on the upper location and used a longer bolt to mount the header tank onto it. So far it’s been working out good!
