I have a Evo 50 with Hyper 50 and TT 50 muffler. (Love it)

Last weekend I had the opportunity to fly a Kyosho 37 Calibre heli.

What a beautiful sounding heli. It must be the smoothest and quietest sounding heli I have ever seen and perfect for beginners. Not a patch on the EVO when it comes to 3D. I assume a lot of the smoothness and quietness comes from the belt drive system.

Anyway my question is what improvements can I get going to Delrin gears on my EVO. Are the improvements significant or is it a lot of money for nothing. Is there anything else that will make my heli sound like the Kyosho.

I want to replace my muffler. Not looking for all out power but what is the quietest muffler out there for the OS 50 Hyper.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		if you do want a power boost, the west genisis pipes are quieter as well as producing more power.
BTW i beleive it is more the heli because the cal30 w/ os32sxh is super quiet. much quieter then my R30 with the same engine.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		A Caliber with an OS 37 and Toki muffler is a raging, screaming thing of beauty. It's kinda like a standard Caliber on serious steroids with an attitude.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Hatori's and Zimmermans are known for being quiet and powerful so you might want to check those out.

The delrin gears do cut down on a lot of gear noise, but I don't think you'll get to the quiet sound of the Caliber due to the fact the Caliber is belt driven.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I have os hyper 50 whith a hatori exhaust and the delrin gears. Between the gears and the hatori it has quited the gear wine alot. theres reall not mutch else you can do.

You could line parts of your canopy with that rubber foam I noticed that some of the japanese pilots do that for sound dampening. Ive personally tried using dynamat car sound deadning material, but its kinda heavy. I might try the foam.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Vario do sound deadening foam which works well. Its not cheap, but is effective.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		As mentioned the big difference is the caliber is Belt drive and the Sceadu is Gear drive. You will never get rid of all the noise.

Get a Hattori muffler if you want a quite muffler.

But face it, if you like the evo you are going to be stuck with some noise. This is true with all gear driven heli's.

Now if you want real quiet you can always go to electric.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I've got delrin gears all round on mine incl the tail take off pinion, and a Hatori 540 pipe with Webra 52 engine. Its no more noisey then my other helis but its hard to say how much is down to the delrin gears and how much to the pipe/engine combo.
