What is the best way to sit your mechanics in
a fiberglass fuselage , in other words what do
you scale hobbyist use for your platforms to sit
your mechanics on. My next question is do you
replace the original boom with a carbon fiber
boom , since I'm not using a wire drive system
and there will be no boom supports. Do any of
you have any pictures I can copy from or at least
get an idea.

I have built only one scale heli. It was a Century Hughes 500E for 60 mechanics, I used Raptor 60 mechanics in mine.

There is virtually no instructions on how to install the mechanics. My particular kit has plywood formers that glue inside the body at the bottom and a solid wood deck is laid on top of these and interlock through tabs and are glued in place. I had to add a strip of maple hardwood to the rear to raise my mechanics so the stock tail boom would slide inside the scale boom. I used blind nuts on the underside of the deck BEFORE gluing the deck in place and used 8/32 machine bolts to bolt the mechanics down onto the decking.

Measure everything at least 3 times, trial fit at least that many times and check everything again...

Some bodies require no tail boom and have a wire system, if that is the case you just have to build it the best you can. It's almost like scratch building at many times and is up to you to figure out the best approach.

You can visit my website, I have the building of my H500E completely documented with plenty of text and photos.

My website is HeliDriver.com

good luck!

I start off using plywood or a composite material of fiberglass and balas wood for the base plate. Cut this to size to fit the model and set your mech's on top and draw your mounting holes and cut-outs that you need. Drill the holes for the mounting and make your cut outs for the needed air flow and then you can glue this into the model using expoy
or fiberglass resin, and be sure to seal the wood using resin or fuel proof paint. Then you can make the cutouts into the body for the airflow.

Are you using a belt drive for the tail ? if not you should a wire drive system. If using a belt drive you can use spray in foam in the tail area to hold the boom in place.
