I'm trying to remove the fan to change out the rear bearing in my c-spec and I can't get the fan off. I tried heating it with a heat gun then turning it, I tried using two bolts where the clutch mounts and useing a wrench to turn it. It twisted the bolts. I even bent the fins on the fan before it even budged. Any suggestions? My next step is to place the engine in the oven, fan and all to see if that helps. i'll have to get a new fan anyway.

Go to the local auto parts store and get a cheap, small gear puller, slip the jaws under the fan and crank the screw, and wham - the fan comes right off!

Don't put the engine in the oven. Take a brass rod and a small hammer and tap the end of the crank. This will get the engine off of the fan and break the lower collet loose.

BTW, when you put it back together, don't use loctite. It isn't needed.

Heat the collet thats around the crankshaft in the fan. Then put the whole thing in a vise. Open the vise so you can sit the fan on the two ends. Then just do the same thing Terry said. I use a phillips screw driver. Give it two hard shots and its out. For future reference, Hirobo has a fan puller now. Similar to the xcell one. 2513-034

Hi

Did you use red loctite? Because that was what I did with my shuttle. I am not really sure if it is the same but if it is then a hairdryer should solve youre problem, heat the inside of your flywheel and lock the crank, when it is to hot to touch use a straptype wrench. This worked for me but I did need my dad to hold the engine.

Thanks for the suggestions. I didn't use red loctite only blue on the threads for the nut. I'll give it a go again to see what happens.
