The wood ones don't take much abuse. The tips start to go pretty quick and the covering comes off.

Also having problems with the tail motor bushing poping out.

I am at work right this moment and have been playing around for the past 6 hours or so at making a custom set of polished aluminum main blades. I've been kicking around the idea of selling limited numbers of them in a set possibly including a matching tail rotor and blade holders. Just out of curiosity, what do you thing you would be willing to pay for something like that?

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Yeah, I was gonna say, metal is a no-no.

Kinda silly with all the other stuff being used, but it has to do with how metal fatiques.

If the Blade is really the same as the Honey Bee 2, I think I saw a couple of places offering CF Blads for the HB, and maybe they would work?

I looked at pictures and they do seem to be the same helicopter, despite what Horizon says. I would buy Horizon anyway, just because of their customer supoort. I have to own about 10% of all the products they make.

My tail rotor is toast, my blades are ragged on the ends. Waiting for parts to arrive. Ordered from Heliproz, but they had to ship ground because of the lipos and I wont see them till after the fourth.

Oh well, such is life. Anticipation is 1/4 of the fun. (not quite half). Still waiting for my DA50 to come back for my Christen Eagle too. At least that should be hear this week.

This is a very dangerous thing to do!! Blades flex when being used and aluminum is subject to metal fatigue. Also there will be much more carnage if the blade strikes a person. In the USA, the AMA does not allow the use of any metal blade on any aircraft. So if you do this, and someone is hurt, you have no liability insurance.

Sorry, wasn't thinking about that. Must be the engineer in me, I was just thinking about the look, forgot about the whole "cut my fingers off" angle... I'll go back to working with wood and polycarb.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The carbon blades look great and are about $35 a set. You can damage them as easily as the wood set though. Try wrapping your Wood blades with a strip of two inch wide packing tape. I do it with every set (I am still learning how to fly) and they last MUCH longer

Actually, a friend of mine has been running the E-flite carbon blades and I'm amazed at their durability. He's even had a few concrete sidewalk strikes with no visable damage.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The carbon fiber blades are a tad more durable than the woodies. They are definitely stronger than the tail boom as you will discover in a boom strike. ModelSport Hornet CP and Hornet 2 composite main rotor blades fly like a champ on my Blades. I think they are a little higher quality than the Horizon CF blades which I also have. The Hornet blades seem to track and fly much better in my experience.
