I just took out the counter gear on my Evo 50 to change the gear to the delrin version. Before disassembling the counter gear I noticed that he bearing holder could move up and down about 0.2-04mm on the shaft.

I then installed the delrin gear and the play is still there (I did use the correct hole) by about the same amount. Should I just ignore the play (might not matter when the gear is installed in the second bearing holder) or should I try shim it?

If I should shim it can I then use a 7mm shim instead of a 6.5mm shim as I only have 7mm shims.

Also a in the manual (step 5) it states to apply loctite to the axis that goes into the gear. However, there where not locking agent applied from the factory. Is this really necessary and is loctite the best thing to use?

i would use the locktite. go to your lhs and get the blue loctite. good strong stuff. and when you need to get something off it will come off easy. but i was reading a review the other day about building evos and all he was saying was loctite, loctite, loctite. like everyother word.

I just do not understand why to use loctite between a plastic to metal connection. I have assembled and installed the counter gear assembly and I did not use loctite. The pin you push into the gear and axle sits very tight and I cannot imagine the pin comming out. Event with the little play as described above the heli flies nicely (the play was there from the start).
