With a standard 50SX-H, I'm sure you'll find it much easier to keep the head speed below 1900 but well above 1800 (if you want to..) without resorting to a governor or weird throttle curves...
With the Hyper Head version, I and many others have found these things are really turning up the head to well into the 2000 range so, strange non-linear curves or a governor is absolutely necessary to be safe for sure.. And, if you're just starting out, the higher head speeds make the machine a LOT more responsive than what you probably want.
Originally when I bought the Hyper, I thought the primary benifit would be a cooler running engine. I really have mostly found that this engine is turning more R's. One Plus for the TIGER though! With it's 8.9 ratio, this helps and you can more easily set it up for sub 1900 head speed. On the Raptors, with the 8.5 ratio, head speed is off the scale on my MA optical tach! It forces us to use all sorts of stupid extremely non-linear throttle curves.
Thats where if you have a very efficient pipe, as a beginner, it really only makes this tuning of the curves and engine worse...
Yeah, it's a bummer having to buy one thing for now and something else later as you progress. Guess what, welcome to ANY hobby.
