Had my tail motor not burn out ,but the shaft come away from it's seat so as the shaft wobbled and I couldn't put it back in place. I had a new tail motor from my Colco T-Bird and tried it. It works perfect and mounted the larger heatsink that came with it. Nice to see some of these other parts interchangeable. Grandhobby has these motors for $10.00 shipped. I'm still having a problem with the boom coming loose on both ends. Super glue doesn't work so I'll try epoxy next. I'm having fun learning on the Blade and doing much better so much so I'm ready to do a video , it will bring laughs I'm sure.

Can't you copy and paste your video file on a post? That's how I wanted to do it so all could enjoy a laugh or two. I'm laughing too cause this heli-bug has bit me bad and it's just too much fun.

Glue for tail boom

I haven't had any luck with epoxy on the tail boom either. I wa shpoing CA glue would do the trick but maybe not if the Crazy Glue isn't holding. Hmmm....what to try next?

same thing

Hey guys -- I am completely new here but have been reading all this stuff on the Blade CP. I bought one last weekend... I'm a total heli beginner.

This little guy has proved to be quite a challenge, to say the least. After smashing it to kingdom come on its maiden voyage, I've been having little success and making many repairs. I made some training gear out of bamboo skewers (which also make for great kabobs when you get hungry from too much heli-fixing), and have got the crashing to a minimum. Problems still... very little life from the blade, so I called Horizon and the tech told me to lengthen the pitch rods. Done. Back at the park, and got her up in the air for a while! Then the radio jitter started and after a really not-so-rough landing I notice that the small ball end which holds the pitch rod on on one of the blade grips is broken off. Sigh. Epoxying right now, so hopefully it will hold...

but now the reason for my post - my tail motor also has the same defect as the one described here. I've been able to snap the small retaining bushing back into the housing, but it's come loose again. Definitely a problem. I should call Horizon but I feel like I've bugged them enough for one day Perhaps one of their techs will see my post and offer to help.

Other than that - I can still say that the level of quality and engineering on this is very high - much better than I was expecting for the purchase price. Now if only the operator was better engineered.

Thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions and everything else here - they are MUCH appreciated. Now just gotta save up some money to get some better batts and a new charger.

Get some CA Glue, its great....quick to set (seconds) and holds just about anything (fingers and skin included might pick up some CA debonder too )

Myself and my friend have also had the tail motor burn out problem. This is obviously a problem for them. I think if there were a different motor available that didn't exhibit this trait nobody would mine paying to upgrade. It is nice that Horizon is replacing the defective motors but at some point there has to be a "fix". At the price point of the BCP there is no griping from me over little issues while the bugs are being worked out. Now if I could just learn to fly the tail. It is amazing how much easier my Rappy is to fly than this thing. Once I get this puppy sorted the Raptor will be a cinch.

Cheers,

Paul

should have thought of CA glue before -- if (ok, when) the epoxy breaks, I'll do that. I have enough here to glue myself to the floor several times over.

tail motor

Me and another buddy's bcp are both popping the brass front bearing off the tail motor also. Sounds like this may be a common issue. I've gotten really good at pushing it back in place with a screw driver, take 15 seconds. BUT, I'm concerned the next time I try a loop, it'll come apart and - BLAM!

Just talked to Horizon & they want me to send in my motor before they send one out. I think I better order a couple of spares.

I spoke with Horizon earlier this morning and told them the problem. The guy I talked to was Steve. He told me he'd "see what they could do about sending me a new one." I'm guessing they're getting innundated a little bit.

I hope I get mine! Otherwise are there any suitable non-oem replacements?

Like I posted earlier. I replaced my tail motor with a spare colco t-bird I had, it has a bigger heat sink and it's $10.00 shipped from the E-bay store called grand hobby.

I'm brand new in the heli crashing hobby. Bought a Blade CP a week and a half ago. It crashed right out of the box. Trashed the main blades and popped the tail rotor off. I made new blades on the mill at work and was able to straighten the main shaft. While it was apart I checked all the linkages and found the holes in the control horns were so tight they were binding up constantly. I was able to hone them out a touch to eliminate the binding. Put it all back together and on the first test it hopped straight up into a low solid hover at 1/2 throttle, then did a total spiraling swan dive into the wood pile. The little brass bushing on the tail motor was popped out. I called Century a few minutes ago and they're sending a replacement out as we speak.

i'm on my third tail motor now. both times they died i was using a 1320 Li-po instead of the stock battery. any chance this could have anything to do with the motors breaking?
