Hai All,

Any of you experience main gear that got stipped during flight?
It already happened in my Sceadu Evo 50 for three times.
The heli only use for 3D learning such as inverted, flipping, tic toc and FAI style aerobats.
I have check the frame and seems to be OK. No crack found. The engine alignment also good. No vibration, no fuel foaming.

Any suggestion will help.

Thanx and regards,

if you're using the standard main gear (non delrin) and 10 or 11 tooth pinion, you will get excessive wear on the gear making it prone to losing teeth. The gear mesh is not adjustable and the 12 tooth pinion is a perfect mesh. Even then with 90 engines, its best to use the delrin gear.

What pinion and gear are you using?

Vibe 90, Vibe 50, Vigor CS x2,
Dyna-x, Knight 503D, Logo 10,
TRex 500, Furion, Gaui EP200

I am using 87T main (standard) and 10T pinion.
If this is due to exessive loose gear mess, how could it be fixed? It is only last for 3 flight.
Using 12T pinion will lowered the ratio and could bog down the engine?

BTW, I never stripped Freya 90 standard mein gear. Usually the one way auto bearing damaged first.

I got about 300 flights on the black plastic main gear in my EVO. I finally replaced it because it was showing signs of wear (but never stripped). If your stripping them in 3 flights, something is wrong.

Look at where the top of the pinion fits into the bearing. I've had 3 three wear out and get loose. This allows the pinion to move around and could be causing the stripping.

Well for what it's worth my Lama, which I think may have similar mechanics was stripping gears every 10 mins. My problem turned out to be head speed too high with slightly oversized blades. This was putting too much stress on the main gear, but once the headspeed was lowered, no more stripped gears. Lovely!
