os50 non hyper, 30% fuel and revlock, mp2 1950 headspead

headspeed drops alot, dont know how much but the tail drifts alot cause of this, any ideas?

to much pitch? 10-0-10
to much cyclics? no binding with manuals intial setup!

thanks

The first thing that I would try is richening up the mixture a few clicks , just to eliminate the possibility of the engine leaning out during the flips .I had this happen years ago on a Kalt Space Baron and it took me weeks to figure it out . If that doesn't fix it then I would reduce the pitch to +- 9 and try again .

At the end of the day , it gets dark .

Probably too much collective during the flip, and possibly also too much cyclic.

It's common to overdo the collective when learning flips and rolls. If you're slamming the collective during the flip, you'll blade-stall the head due to the combination of collective pitch and cyclic pitch.

Try your flips at a bit higher altitude, and intentionally go very light on the collective. At 1950 RPM you shouldn't need more than a few degrees of pitch to hold the altitude, and during the flip you won't need any. If you're worried about altitude, give the collective a little boost just before the flip and make sure it's back to zero as you input the cyclics.

Collective management is essential for good flips. You should never get anywhere close to the collective endpoints during this maneuver.

Are you positive that the governor is engaged? Yes, too much cyclic and too much collective will bog the rotor head and consequently allow you to lose tail authority, but I went through this same problem about a week ago and realized that the sensor for my GV-1 had given out.

using tt600's carbons blades, you guys think maybe i'm using to much cyclic to get the roll or flip rate i need, maybe i should buy some lighter paddles, right now i'm using stock paddles without weights.

i dont think i'm running to lean the piston has a very light brown color,

some vid's im watched like alan z, his heli can do flips and rolls endlessly, i think its my set up, because when i try to mantain altitude is when i run into problems.

Stick Management

Definitely try less Collective.

Go up and practice. Start how you normally do it, then make a mental note of how far you move the sticks. Then try it with less pitch.

Remember that Pitch is addative. So 10 degrees of pitch + 8 degrees of aileron or elevator is going to make that engine bog (18 degrees total). Blades start to stall at around 13 degrees of pitch (from what I remember), so start to experiment with less stick movement and still get the same results.

You'll start to see the heli doesn't just fall out of the air and you can do the continuous rolls / flips without killing the heli. They'll actually look smoother too!

I too would check that mixture,
i have almost the same combo Evo, 30% and hyper.

Im a fairly experienced pilot but i honestly thought my engine was shot.
Turns out it was lean.

I know the Mp2 needs to be a little richer than most mufflers as its a 1/4 wave tuned pipe and not a muffler.

Try flying fairy fast and pulling up into a vertical climb, if you hear the motor protest during this simple test then i would suggest going 5 or 6 clicks richer and rechecking,
i actually thought i was was too rich as the motor was not getting hot.
I was just making matters worse,

obviously as has been said collective managment is crucial but if your no stranger to flips , metronomes ect and this has happened then its something to check.
Hope you get it sorted ,drove me mad for weeks.

If you were using too much collective I would expect you to hear it bog - otherwise the governor should maintain the headspeed

Sounds like your OS50 may have lost a little of it's spirit, I would remove the exhaust and check that the ring is not gummed up solid in the piston

Check both fuel line clunks to make sure they are not hitting the back of the tanks. I had that happen. It would fly great until I got vertical. Then it would lose a lot of power.
