My Posts This: Topic  Forum		I took the clutch off my Evo to check the clearance between the shoes and the drum - Does anybody know what this specification should be?

I also noticed at the top of the clutch drum, where the gear is, it doesn't fit too closely. In fact there is a good amount of slop. Why? Should it be like this?

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Not sure about the exact clearance, but the tried and true method is to wrap the clutch with two wraps of electrical tape. That should be the proper clearance!

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		The % is a difficult question to answer exactly. It depends on a lot of factors.

It should begin to engage at anything above a fast idle. I would say that by about 20% throttle (on the carb barrel, not the radio) it should be fully engaged. But that's a guess based on what I've observed with my copters, so your actual mileage may vary.

You basically want to have a steady idle on the engine. It doesn't matter if it's fast or slow just that it runs reliably at idle. It's nice to also have the clutch aligned well enough that it does not engage the bell and cause any rotor movement. The clutch should begin to operate nearly immediate after raising the throttle.

I think RPMs would be a better gage, and I'm going to guess somewhere between 4-6 K . I'll have to measure it.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		If you have an optical tach, just measure the rotot rpm when it "engages" and work backwards from the gear ratios. Simple.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Oh I got it and I think that I can do this without optical tach, which I don't have anyway, because when the rotor engages, it spins very slowly, so I can measure rpm by eye. Thank you. I will try doing this when I got my engine back from a small repair.

My Posts This: Topic  Forum		Yesterday I checked it again and it fully engages at about 20% throttle. I didn't measure the rotor rpm, because it was spinning faster, than I thought and I don't have an optical tach, but anyway, as BimmerM3 told, everything is ok.
