Be nice kids!!!

Over here we'd have to vote Freya of course. I personally like just about anything that has a rotor.

The Freya is easier to set up without having to adjust the bearing holders and other things in the Raptor. Not to mention the clutch design of Hirobos are better in terms of quality and aligning.

I have the X-spec too and love it, but a club member just picked up a Raptor Se for £550 and that is a lot of heli for the money. Personally, I also prefer the looks of the Freya, but I guess it is personal choice.

He who dies with the most toys is the winner!

Hi,

I had an Raptor and now I'm a proud owner of the X-Spec.

Advantage Raptor

- lighter
- cheaper

Advantage Freya

- more reliable, the Raptor swashplate is becoming indifferent, link balls and linkages have a poor quality
- better to setup, this is my personal opinion. It was easier for me to setup the Freya.
- overall better quality, the alloy parts are marvellous

Imho it was a good choic to switch

Best regards

Gero

I don't know how it is overseas, but the X-Spec is less expensive than the Raptor 90se from what I have seen. If you are comparing the 'standard' Raptor 90 to the 'standard' Freya, then you are talking about a huge cost savings going with the Freya.

Raptors are ugly. Sorry raptor lovers. I like the sleek lines of my freya. And I did have a raptor. Also cheaper and less expensive. But I love the way my evo flies and I am sure the freya will fly even better.

One thing that bugs me about the Raptor 90 is the main gear is cheap molded plastic. Why do they not come with a machined Delrin main gear? All other major helicopter manufactures offer Delrin running gears in the 90 ships. Seems they go to all that trouble with th nice carbon and metal bits and they use cheap plastic gears. Just looks out of place.

I haven't heard about any problems with the stock gears. Why make it more expensive than it has to be? If you really feel the need to spend money to impress your friends you can buy the delrin spiral cut gears from Helikraft.com

So why do you think Hirobo and Minature use delrin running gears? Just for looks? It yeilds a smoother running drivetrain. Also machined gears are much higher quality than the molded gears. I still have the stock plastic main gear on my EVO and the thing has been crashed at least 10 times and I have yet to replace it.

So again why do you need delrin gears if the stock plastic gears are just fine on your Evo?
As I said, delrin gears are available from a 3rd party if you gotta have them.

I have owned and flown a Raptor 60\90 and I now have a Freya. The people who are comparing Raptor to Freya have obviously never owned or flown a Freya. They think Raptors are great because that's what they have. I almost feel sorry for them. The R90SE weighs almost 12 pounds ready to fly, so does my boat anchor.

The plastic main gear and tail gear suck energy from the rotor head in autos'. The delrin is much better. Some hate the whine the sceadu has with the stock plastic. I don't mind it though.

My freya is a bit on the heavy side as I run a parallel pack system with two switchs. about 4.5 ounces heavier than a 2400 scr pack with one switch. Won't worry it for precision flying and windy conditions though.

The real hardcore 3 d flyers want lightweight and some get their freya x-specs to weigh 10 pounds. mine tips the scales dry at just over 11 pounds.

I'm more interested in the precision aero's now and the stick banging stuff not so important so the weight not as much a problem although any extra weight don't help auto's.

929pilot.....yer me too. I had the r 50 v2. was good but not as good as the evo or freya. Definately cheaper but I had lots of slop develop quick on the rappy. (although the stock washout and radius block on the evo should be biffed at the start)

Big cheese.....yup agreed.....I believe the hirobo stuff is higher quality although rappys have bought a lot of people to the hobby and can still be flown the pants off. They just so darn ugly!! LOL

How the heck can you make a X-Spec weigh 10lb?? Mine weighs 11lb. Funnily enough it weighed 10.5lb with original OS 91, Hatori muffler & plastic lower frames & yoke. Guess the C-Spec PS & MP2 weigh a ton. I'm using 4 cell A-size nicad 1700mah that weighs 5.5oz.

Yeah, my mate's R90 weighs even more. His old Vigor CS felt as heavy as a gasser!

He keeps ragging on me to get a R90 but I prefer Hirobo quality!
