Wow...some nice stuff!

Let me say this, 6591 is one nice Dauphin! Believe me I lived the Dauphin for almost two years and I am VERY familliar with every surface detail and if that machine looks half as nice in person well...OUTSTANDING!

Now then what's the 411 on the JayHawk? What kit is that? What mechanics? I suspect they are miniture....

Looks like I am going to have to put the ols nose to the grindstone...people have really stepped it up a few notches, if you want to win a contest now you really have to be good!

DEATILS PLEASE!

Yeah what's even more amazing is that it's turbine powered! I don't know how he managed to squeeze a Jetcat into a Vario fuse, but that is one awesome machine!

Blackhawk / Jayhawk

Hi Dave,

That beautiful Jayhawk is a modified Century Blackhawk ARF... It has the typically awesome paint that comes out of the factory (Funkey), and had a few one-off details, and just looked great. I did'nt get a close look at the mechanics, the rotorhead did look like a M/A, but don't quote me on that.......

It was competed in sportscale, and finished 3rd

Wish you, Colin and Larry could have made it, it was a blast as always, but was missed by the Vegas gang, and you could have flown Marks ships again

it looked like a good time was had by all....

My new house is nearly finished and soon I will be able to get back to building something...I will be attending next year, no doubt.

Nowthen, who knows what about this centry kit? Would fury mechanics fit?

J-Hawk

Hi Dave,

Hope everything is well. The J-Hawk you were asking about is
a Century pre-painted fuse. It has Miniature X-cell Pro mechanics
in it with a speedo drive, a 130 degree rear gear box, and a
final shaft drive to a Predator tail rotor gearbox. I actually put
the model together for the owner. We had a bad lockout problem
with the model that resulted in a hard landing that broke the tail
wheel. The lockout problem was caused by a bad RX battery.
As a result, the non scale tail wheel was repositioned at the correct
J-Hawk location. It flys very well and I believe that the fuse is tall
enough to fit Fury mechanics in it. Hope you guys can make it
next year.

Hi Al,

Al's scratch built CH-21, in "Classic Rotor"color. Hope to test fly as soon as I replace my transmitter that burned up saturday.

Can you give us some more info on your H21? Rotor size? Engine? Weight?

I am just working on my own electric version of the H21:

Just One Of Those Things

It's not like it's a conspiracy, It was just an unfortunite series of events....and ALL were different !!

Jacks 145 sufferes from SEVERE ground resonance, and it beat itself up pretty badly, but will fly again.....

Tims Super Puma is going through some teething problems with the retracts and such, and suffered some very minor cosmetic damage, and some dislodged formers, but knowing Tim, is most likely already repaired......

Brians Dauphin just ran out of fenestron thrust, and got into a bad situation, and though the impact left us all thinking it was totaled, it turns out it too was not bad. Main rotorhead and blades were toast, but the rest is largely cosmetic, and Brian said he'd have it ready for further testing very soon......

A beautiful Bell 230 (i don't know who owns it or what brand it was) in PHI colors went in VERY HARD, and looked to be totaled to me, but i never found out why that one went in.....

Peters 300 was shot down by an idiot flying in a field across and down the street from the field. The plane was seen flying about the time Peters 300 went out of control, but when clubmembers went to confront the dude, they were unable to find him.......

A Bell 47 was crashed due to disorentation, i don't know how bad it was, i did'nt see it afterwards, and i don't know who's it is or what kind it was......

My own 222 suffered a stripped servo (for the retractable landing light) when i botched the landing in one of my contest rounds....I stuck the landing fairly aggressively half on and half off the pad, and the light took the hit, and stripped the drive servo for it.......It is already been repaired and put away, with a new gear set, and a thorough checkup, and nothing else was found........

I think thats it, at least, thats all i can remember........Yes, it was a tough wknd. as far as attrition is concerned, but it's not the whole picture.....there were HUNDREDS of flights flown in total without incident !!

As allways, Circumgyration is the best of the best in the US, and this year was no different, it was a blast, it brings out the best in all the pilots. The flying and the level of beauty in the models was raised from last year, and the number of turbine powered models flown at CG continues to grow

Jay-Hawk and Fury Mechanics

Dave,

The owner of the Jay-Hawk provided me with the following info
on your question of compatability of the Jay-Hawk and Fury
mechanics.

For your friend who is thinking of the Fury in a blackhawk, tell him the fury is almost an inch higher than the Pro IIK. He will have to cut small openings in the top for the two fury frame peaks (which are quite small) - much like you did for the swash plate guide. Otherwise, it shouldn't be an issue. If he doesn't move the whole thing backwards, like you did, the peaks might extend thru the existing hole.

I moved the mechanics back about a half inch to help with
the Center of Gravity. Even so, I needed to add about 10oz
to the nose. This bird has a long tail. Hope this was of help
to you.

Yes Brian is right! this is a Vario Bell 412 for petrol mechanics and has an autostart. I sold this heli to a good friend Loren Fong.

Brian how are you? I haven't see you for a while!!! where are you flying these days? I would be flying the Kiowa jet in the farm this weekend.

Regards,

Gonzalo

Joe Howard at East coast scale Helicopters not only sells
Vario but also does custom building of scale helicopters.
I have seen several Helicopters he has built and they are
great.
