Make sure the trim settings on the tx is in the center position. Second taka a peek @ the tail rotor linkage servo. The nominal setting should be 90 degrees on the servo arm as you are looking at it. Third make sure that the linkage is not binding when you give left stick left/right input. If it is reposition the clamp that secures the linkage to the tailboom.If the helicopter is still spinning adjust the gyro extent if you have not done it already. Good luck!

Dragonfly Heli - New to this hobby-need help

Hi Guys - I just got my walkera# 35 and am new to this stuff - I opened my package and almost burned the motor since the shaft was mounted to close together - it worked after I loosened it up a bit. I actually got the 35 of the ground for a little bit but then seemed to have problems with loosing controll of the entire power to it - after leaving heli off for a while it starts back up - is this a problem with overheating? - cant be...since I only flew it for 2-3mins at the time right? - battery does get pretty hot though..so I dont know - like I said I am new to this - I am actually a Personal Trainer and Pro Bodybuilder - so I thought I try a different hobby to balance out the gym stuff - any input on this would be greatly appreciated guys - like I said, totally new to this but making progress fast...that is..if the damn thing would not cut out on me everytime - regards - Markus [url=http://www.markusreinhardt.com]

sounds like overloading the battery. when this happens the motor controller inside the receiver will cut the power to the motor until the battery can produce enough voltage to allow the motor controller to function again. The overloading can be caused by too much pitch in the main blades (pitch curve, mechanical binding of the driven/rotating parts, battery not fully charged or defective or motor defective. you stated that the battery was getting hot so it is probably sufficiently charged. If it is a 650mah battery then it will take about 2.5 - 3 min. for it to get hot and start loosing power quickly. The motor at this point will be much hotter than the battery. The stock battery/motor combination is really lacking and you realistically expect no more than 4 min. flight time if heli is properly setup. However, the motor should not cutout after a minute or two. I would check for any binding in the moving parts including the servos and the parts they are moving. If all seems good then try decreasing the pitch curve.

Need Help

I need some help getting started. I have had my walker 35 for about three weeks and have already broke it twice. I have never flown a helicopter before and im finding it to be very frustrating. I have read alot of the postings and am trying to apply them with no luck. Against what you all have wrote about not switching the # 8 switch, I did. Now I'm even worse off . I cant seem to get the bird off the ground and when it does get light it starts to spin and drift. Is there any way to do this on my own.

Well, I send mine back to the company that sold it to me - they said they exchange it for the new #36 - which btw looks very cool - I just hope it will wokr this time - I alos went to a hobbystore with my #35 and they guy who helped me told me that this is the 3rd time he saw problems with this bird - lets see what happends when i get the #36 - I alsor orderd me heli called Cyclone - its black looks like out of a James Bond movie - thought I have a second one in case one is down - I am starting to have fun with this - lol - Markus

DRAGONFLY 35 ZOOM 400

questions

hey, i have a couple of questions: any way to program the esc? and if not, what is a good replacement. also, when i crashed and tore up my tail gear, i replaced it with some slick metal stuff from rc-expert. however, the tail pitch seems opposite from stock. is it as simple as flipping switch on back of radio to reverse direction, or does that screw something else up (seems to work)? many thanks for any help.

You would probably be better off just reversing the blades on the tail or reversing the linkage between the tail drive and blade shafts.

If you reverse the blades you'll probably also need to reverse the rudder channel on your transmitter and/or your gyro.

I am happy now!

Ok guys - I am new to this hobby - and I made a mistake of buying not just one but 2 WALKERA helis - both of em which flew better throwing em out the window then actually trying to set em up and fly - LOL - so now after waisting alomost 400 bucks and a lot of agony - I decided to go BIG - very BIG - I got a NITRO! - to be specific a RAPTOR 30 V2 !!! - now I know what it feels like to fly a real heli and actually have a product that flies - I spend about 900 so far on the RAPTOR - gyros, radio and all the goodies you need - oh man..I would remonmment anyone to buy it - its so much fun!!! - I am still hovering it and am also training on a REFLEX sim - I taped myself hover for a little and will post a link to soon - thanks for all ur support - and DONT BUY ANY WALKERA! - take it from someone that did...MR [url=http://www.markusreinhardt.com]

Loosing Turning pole of tail blades

Hello,
Great forum this, with very usefull info.
I hope somebody can help me with my helicopter problem. I have the Walkera#60. I believe it uses the same tail section as the #36.
Every time I let it go for a run the bolt inside the turning pole (see pic.)vibrates loose and it then looses it with the tail blade attached in mid air.
Very frustrating this is.
I have tried to tighten the bolt, but then there is to much resistance on the bearings and adjustment of it by the tail servo does not work.
Does anybody know how to solve this?

upgrade radio on 35

ok I know this sounds stupid but I don't understand.I got the futaba 6EXH and I have never done this the reciever is diferent for the power.There is no plug for the batterie do I need another wire or what.

The Walkeras are notorious for coming with a speed controller built into the receiver. I've always been blown away by that because its the speed controller that is the source of most glitches.

Anyway, do you have an Speed Controller? If not, then you'll need to pick one up. There are two different types, depending on the motor you're using. If your motor only has two wires it's Brushed. If its got 3 wires then its brushless. You're going to want an ESC in the 25-35 amp range whether its brushed or brushless.

Most speed controllers come with what is called a BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit). You plug your battery into your ESC and then your ESC goes into the throttle channel of your receiver. Your receiver, and the rest of your servos (and gyro), then get their power from there.

To avoid further pitfalls, If I were in your shoes, I once had a similar pair

, I'd be going one of two ways as far as new helicopters:

1. With no experience whatsoever I'd seriously consider one of the eFlight Blades.

2. With enough experience to hover, and a decent radio (one with expo & dual rates), I'd get a T-Rex and never look back.

How do you guys keep from stripping the front tail gear.I've tried using the metal gears and keep messing the pinion up.Now my bird is down and all I have is metal gears should I try it again or wait on the plastic gears.I KNOW IM DOING SOMETHING WRONG WHAT IS IT ?

The original 450X is vastly superior to the Walkeras. But if you do not have a strong attention to detail and have little or no experience with a variable pitch heli, then the 450 XL HDE is the best choice given that it resolves a handful of flaws that exist with the 450X.

If you're loaded $$$, and have the time to work out the details involved with configuring CCPM mechanics then the SE is very nice.

I started with a 450X and have slowly upgraded over time. With a little bit of love and care, the 450X is an awesome heli.

One word of caution. Above all else, check the swashplate. Only the newest models (SEs) come with a well sealed swashplate.
