[quote]No, many differences..

Different software and addtional functions, stick switches, etc...
*

The transmitter features a slightly different design for pilots who prefer a “tray” type system.
*

The FX-40 allows modelers to re-locate the eight switches to different positions for comfort and convenience.
*

The World's smallest 14-channel synthesized receiver, with state-of-the-art Ball Grid Array (BGA) PC board technology.
*

The FX-40 system will control Airplanes, Helicopters and Gliders (Sailplanes).

Also has stick switches.

Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.

Not sure where you are getting your mis-information but the FX40 and the 14MZ are more similar than you think.
Re-location of switches/functions is standard, so is multifunction Heli,Aero,Glider,Motor glider. Same RX ect.
Not trying to hyjack the post but it is this sort of bull that people put on this forum that a) gives it a bad name, b) mis-informs some one else on a high value purchase.

Great Thread !

first of all, thanks JKos for your hard work, this is great stuff and I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I really appreciate what you've taken the time to do.

now, my personal query relates to the performance of current futaba systems running the TM-14 module, and if anyone knows of any improvements with firmware updates.

the 10C was already quite a bit quicker than the TM-14 radios, but when running in HS mode the performance is significantly increased, do the TM-14 radios support the R6008HS receiver, and do they display similar performance to the 10C, or any improvement to their usual performance?

I'm on the edge of picking up a 12FG, but I'm not super excited to be 'slowing down' in my transition to 2.4, as I'm currently flying mostly PPM on 72mhz (not flying an eccpm heli, though this thread's scope has become quite broad I would venture to say).

Thanks for any thoughts or further information anyone can provide,

Regards,
-Danny

Hitec Aurora 9

Hopefully someone will volunteer a Hitec Aurora 9 for Jkos to test when available. Very interested in how this radio will perform.

The manual for the 6008HS Rx says that HS mode is available with the TM14 module. I would love to know whether you can get the same speed as was measured with the 10C/TM10/6008HS when the 6008HS Rx is used with a TM14 module in either the 14MZ or 12FG transmitters. I'd also love to see measurements for the 12FG with a PCM G3 receiver

first of all: thanks alot man for your great work!

it might be interesting to see how the new jeti duplex by jeti model cz compares to the other 2g4 systems! but afaik it's not completely legal in the U.S. but it had been sold before, so maybe there are some left.

Hey guys,
Just as it's always been, I'll test anything that shows up at my doorstep. I typically only need them for a night or two and can get them right back to you.

Thanks,
John

I stand by my fx40 post

I have flown both that and the 14mz for over a year,

and I feel the fx40 is superior for a number of reasons. Ergonomics,

stick top switches, etc....no big deal if you do not need it.

Besides UK, I have heard about the quality of your flying...

No one cares about your "trials"...

The contrarian above, has not, thus he has no objective basis

for his post.

You obviously don't know me, or the fact that i do own and fly with the 14MZ and did have a FX40, I also own a 12x and a 12FG.

As for bieng objective, I am known for buying the latest and greatest, and giving it a good hard trial, I will never tell people it is the best just because I have it!!!!!!

FX40-14MZ

Folks,
I'm not sure why there is so much discussion about these two radios in this forum. However, these two radio are basically the same. The case and layout is really the only difference. The FX40 has the tray type layout, the 14MZ the more conventional layout.

Really Guys !

John can't test it if you don't send it to him. I have not heard any complaints of people not getting their stuff back in original condition. It's winter.

John is 100% trustworthy as anyone here will attest, and his credentials in this area of expertise are impeccable. He's stated on this thread many times that all anyone has to do to see the numbers is to send him a tx/rx package, which are always promptly returned.

PM him to arrange it and he'll surely comply, and swiftly -- if he's not too busy tweaking the avionics suite for the V-22 Osprey or one of the other full scale birds he's involved with.

I own a X9030 and bought a Dx7 SE. I'ts an interesting feeling to own a radio that costs 1/2 of the X9030 and yet its 2X as fast. I realise the X9030 is MORE radio for the money, but the latest generation of cheap 2048/11ms RX like the AR7600 etc means you can actullay use the full potential of the latest technology in the DX7 SE vs the other bunch. i even use the AR7600 on the 250SE...lol

Thats progress for you!

Agreed. When John began this thread four years ago and accurate, unbiased data started rolling in, discussion became hot & heavy -- and manufacturers, realizing that their tx/rx products' true latency numbers would be made public, payed attention.

Radios got pretty damn fast pretty damn fast.

The days of ponderously-slow radios like Futaba's 7C & 9C are over -- and John had a big part in causing this to happen, right here on this thread.
