I have run my freya's / xspec at 1900 for lively performance with a os at 7.9:1.

-Henrik

How is the performance with the YS. That ratio(7.9:1) seems a little too low for the YS.

What muffler are you using?

I have not looped or rolled or anything like that, but the ratio 7.92 is for F3C flying. Seems fine in hovering though

I am using Hatori SB-16-FH Todd Bennet Special muffler.

I will hopefully get to the field tonight and fly around a little bit.

You want a headspeed around 1750rpm (maybe 1750-1800rpm as some says).
My speed is set at 1770rpm"

Is that the optimum head speed for my setup? (YS 91 and 8:45 ratio)

Yes
That puts the engine between 14800 and 15200rpm.

Im running 2xYS91 on 8.45 (one with MP2 and one with SB16-FH) at 1770rpm.

With a YS and the 8.45 ratio 1750 works really well - just remeber to set up the flybar with the mixers on the inner most hole.

The 7.92 ratio is a FAI ratio that works wonderful on an OS for FAI. In 3D I had lots of probs. The engine would bog like mad even if I ran the headspeed really high (it worked better at about 1900, but not perfect). No matter what I did It would bog on extreme stick banging maneuvers. 8.18 seems to be right ratio for 3D and the OS engines - unfortunately you can't get that ratio for the Xspec. I've heard there is a way to modify it and put that ratio in, but I don't know the details.

I switched to a YS with the 8.45 and couldn't be happier!!! No more bogging!!

I have run both and actually went back to the 7.91 at 1900. At that headspeed for my setup I reduced the amount of elevator trave 5% at a time until it quit the bog but still remained snappy. At 8:45 I could still bog the head anyway. The aggressiveness at 1900 is really cool. Especially on the Freya Evo.

Right now I am using the 7.91 on the Evo head vs the 8:45. It feels just like a Evo on the 7.91

For all Freyas and Eagles all components are rated to 2000.

Final headspeed is all dependant really on what you like.

Well, cool, I'm glad to hear a 1770 to 1800 for my setup. Fast spinning blades scare me.
