Hi Guys,

I ran a search but couldn't really find what I was looking for...Soooo...

What head speed are you guys running on your X-Spec's with O/S 91 C-Spec? Normal/Idle up?

I'm using a stock X-Spec with the 7.91 gear ratio....

Thanks!

Remember that a Freya will tend to wobble at a low head speed.

1860?! Dang. I'll have to see what my idle up is set at tomorrow... I believe it's around 1800...

I'm running 1800 as a max head speed.
If you run at 1800 or more, you need to be careful with your tail blades, especially if you use NHP blades.

With the high tail ration of the Freya/X-Spec, you start putting a lot of stress on the roots of the tail blades.

I believe the tail gear ration of the new Freya Evo has been reduced by using an 18 tooth gear (versus 17) so that 2,000 rpm head speed is viable.

Run 97mm tail blades and 1900 on the MR speed if you want the heli to POP in 3D. Everything will stay together.

On the OS around 1900 seems to be the ticket.
The Freya can tolerate the high head speeds no problem and the bird really comes alive.

try it!

Don't know if 1850 is the best rpm or not.

Hmmm....so between 1800 and 1900 for Idle-up, maybe I should be asking what size blades you guys are using too? I have mavrikk 700mm main and stock blades on tail...

680mm and 690mm seem to be much more common/popular

With 700's you run the risk of striking the tail blades.

Damn Heliproz - they ship Xspecs with their dumb Mavrikk blades that are the wrong size!

That's not good.....Just how big is the chance of hitting the tail blades?

The so called "boom-strike" on the freya has been addresed several times. Some say its very likely, and others say they haven't seen a problem.
Do a search on "freya boom strike" and you'll find a good explination by Augusto why 690's and 95mm's are the best set-up.

Get the headspeed cranking to around 1920 or thereabouts. That puts the engine right in it's peak HP range (based on 7.92 gearing)and the heli rocks....

I'm a dumb dumb when it comes to gear ratios. But I do know I'm running a 8:45 ratio... What's the best head speed for 3D for this setup? I'd like to get it setup so I can just get used to it...

Oh yeah, and I'm running the YS 91

Thanks,
J

You want a headspeed around 1750rpm (maybe 1750-1800rpm as some says).
My speed is set at 1770rpm.
