So what is the next step if the Futaba 9C Super do not work like it should? I thought i had a good tx...well, i'll look for DX7 or JR then.

Encoding differences between PCM-G3 and 2.4 GHz

Well I've been looking at the latency posts with great interest, and marvelling at John K's most valuable work in this area. Thanks John, this has been of great interest.

I'd be grateful for some guidance on a related issue. This is to do with the encoding scheme used in Futaba's PCM-G3 and 2.4 GHz transmission modes. This relates specifically to the 12FG but the same would apply to the 12Z and 14MZ.

Am I right in thinking that both the PCM-G3 and 2.4 GHz transmission modes actually share the same 'G3' encoding scheme? In which case the only differences are the way the data stream is transmitted (narrowband FM v. spread spectrum). Am I correct in this assumption?

In the UK the TM-14 module isn't available and there isn't any documentation which I could find on this.

Thanks in advance.

The 9c is Futaba's "Edsel"

As a die-hard Airtronics fan, I'm looking forward to see how their 2.4gHz module/rx for the Stylus performs when it's released later this year.

Nah.

Not an Edsel.

Edsels didn't sell. Futaba has sold a blue million 9C's.

More like a Taurus.

Not the fastest car on the block, but it gets the job done for a great many pilots.

Just thought I would update this thread by saying...

12Z with TM-14 has excellent CCPM. Fully sync'd and simultaneous swash channel output pulses.

X9303 has excellent CCPM. Fully sync'd.

To save a long re-read, do you recall whether the Stylus' pulses are sync'd?

Hey now... For whatever reason, despite not having fully sync'd pulses, the Stylus has excellent CCPM. Here is plot of the rx output during a fast collective change. I believe it is because the CCPM mixing is excellent and the channels can fully change in one frame.

The Futaba T7C 2.4 GHz with an R617FS has great CCPM characteristics. The three channels have sequential pulses (6, 1, then 2) with some slight overlap of 6 and 1 depending on the pulse width. Those three channels appear to stay sync'd.

The channel output scheme of the R617FS is 7-6-1-2-3-4-5.

Oh, and good news too, is that there is no sign of "slew rate limiting" as noted previously on the 6EX 2.4, 7C, and 9C Super.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the R608FS compares to the R6014FS when the R608 becomes available for testing.

No, sorry, that is not the grouping data wise, but rather the pulse output sequence from the receiver.

John:
Are you reading this pulses from the Data Port or the channels themselves?

John,

Any word yet on the 8 channel FASST receiver? Will it have the same characteristics at the 14 channel?

Thanks,

DK
