Got my Medusa today, might get me back into flying the little beast again. I've been to lazy to fix a sloppy link problem on the flybar so this should inspire me into action.

V-22,

Yep, i have a Hacker B40 heatsink fitted. The outside temp was somewhere between 27 and 30 degrees C.

That was fast sparkhead. I thought you only ordered it last week.

I'm not entering the heli show Adam. Its not the money like so many others have used as an excuse, I just don't like flying at places where there is going to be alot of people around. I love these helis but have seen a few mishaps lately with models and am not willing to be the one who has to live with hurting someone.

I'm going to be there on the Saturday though as a spectator and will look forward to catching up with you. My bloody brother has organised his daughters Christening on the Sunday so that counts me out for both days. I was also thinking of coming to the indoor meet on the weekend but if the weather is good I'd rather fly my bigguns.

Anyway we'll catch up at one of the events I'm sure.

Also have you seen that 3DMP that Simon is flying at the moment? I don't think you could beat that from what I've heard. I'm looking forward to seeing that fly.

Nick wants to make his L16 fly like that but I think it'll cost a fair swag. I think the 3DMP is on the right track selling it as a complete tested package ready for hard 3D. If the Kontronics motor that Robbe is selling as a set for it is anything like what they packaged with the Eolo I don't really think they have done to much research.

I cut eight 1" dia round holes into my Canopy and flew some test flights this morning.

Motor Temps never rose above 60 dec C so with a heatsink and adequate cooling installed the temps can be controlled within the safe limits of the motor.

I flew for about 10 minutes and it took exactly 1501mAh back into the pack. I'm pretty happy with the performance of this motor now.

I'll sell you mine with a little mark up of say 200%, hows that?

Hopefully I'll be able to give it a test on Friday.

Sounds pretty good so far.

Sparkhead,

That is awfully nice of you but I'll wait for now. Good luck with the test, and let us know how it goes.

Can I get away with not using a UBEC/SBEC for a 6s Medusa setup on a Jazz 40-6-18 ESC? 3xHS85 and a GY401/s9253 on the tail.

The jazz 40-6-18 can handle 6S lipo? I just got a Jazz 55-6-18 and was a bit bored because 18cell = about 21.6 V and I tought It cannot handle 22.2V.

Fully charged Nickel cells are close to 1.5V so 18 cells would be near 27V.
A fully charged 6S pack is 25.2V.

OK I just did some testing in the back yard with the Medusa, HS with 14t pinion on my Thunderpower 6s pack, 0 pitch 2180. Same setup with 2 3s packs in series 2280???? I hope that isn't another Thunderpower pack down the drain.

Anyway I hovered with canopy off for 6 minutes and did a few climbout tests and it was OK (only with the 6s pack). So then I landed and put my fingers on the heatsink and have now left a permament set of fingerprints on there. I don't have a temp guage but it was pretty damn hot. From memory as hot as my Aveox or maybe slightly cooler but I'm only doing 2180 not 2450. So I'll see how it goes, might have to try 16t to get the desired HS but I think the temps will go sky high.

Just charging the battery now so I will report back with the capacity used.
