Waiting...

Jim,

No... I haven't yet received the loaners from tppacks nor have I received my repaired 10s2p pack back from ThunderPower. I was hoping to get it going before IRCHA SE this weekend but that looks doubtful now. I will be taking my boxed Century Bell 222 (8s3p C50 15XL) If any of you guys are going I'd love to see your setups fly!
Let me know, I'll be there Fri., Sat., and Sun.

Update

Thunder Power fixed my 10s2p pack for free and shipped it back to me. Gary sent me the "loaner" Jazz controller and a new 1515-2Y to help troubleshoot the Shulze 32.55k. Well, the new motor didn't make a difference... the Schulze looks to be defective at this point so I'm going to have to work with them to get it fixed or replaced. The Jazz works great in GOV mode with the Neu motor.

I just noticed the "new" conversion kit now available... no gear reduction required!!! Just mount the pinion on the shaft, stuff it all up there AND GO!!!

Real Raptors: What speed control could a guy use with the 12s2p battery, the voltage is above maximums on all speed controls listed on TPPacks. How do you guys know when to shut down as to not drop below the minimum volts for a pack? Does the controller have voltage cutoff like the smaller ones or is it a cross your fingers and experament thing? I would like to do a conversion but I dont want to invest a bunch of money and then burn the packs up or catch the heli on fire.

Thunder Power Battery Usage TP4000 10S2P

When first flying your XeroG 600EP, you should start by flying for 5 minutes, land and recharge your cells to determine how much capacity you have left.

The TP4000 10S2P cells have a capacity of 4000mAh, you should aim to use up between 3000mAh to 3400mAh per flight. You should be able to tell from the charge you put back into your cells whether you can fly longer or shorter, i.e. after charge, if you put back in 2500mAh, fly another minute on top of your first 5 minutes, and repeat the procedure again until you hit the limit.

Our average flight time is 7 minutes

You can fly past these recommendations but you stand a change of shortening the cell life.

I think andy was using a Schulze S/control on his 12s setup, maybe the 40.160H (not 100% sure though)

We are currently testing with a Castle Creation HV-85 on 12s, this was sent to us by Castle Creations for testing with our heli's, so far 10 flights with it and no problems, we also have used the Schulze 40.160H, excellent ESC but pricey

The quote from our website by Dokey, is the best way we have found to check flight times, the flight time has a number of factors which is different for each pilot

Thanks for the replies from both of you. So how are you metering how many amps you are putting back into a pack, will some chargers have a readout so you can see? I havent even found a charger that can do the 10s2p or 12s2p. I havent looked real hard, I wanted to get some facts before I started pricing things. I did just check the CC site and the 85 and 110 you can set.

You can use the Schulze chargers, they have a due line display, and tell you end pack voltage, mA put back into the pack etc

The new Thunder Power charge will be able to do the same or you can use a Watts Up in series with your pack and charger

probably 100-150watts per pound is what you need. Since weight difference between 30 and 50 is minimal, best to get 50 tailboom so you can run 600mm main blades for lighter loadings.

I broke down, an bought a raptor with the box conversion. It has the hacker motor and speed control, is this motor and speed control better than the Neu motor and a different speed control? As far as power and efficiency. You have to cut final headspeed in half also right, due to 2:1 reduction on V2 box. I am trying to figure my final headspeed with various batts and gearing and am comming up between 3800 and 4700 rpm.
