Century Hawk - 50NX - Raven - Predator > NEW! Swift Electric R/C Helicopter

kromeHeliman - Location: San Jose, CA - My Posts This: Topic  Forum

Introducing the Swift Electric R/C Helicopter by Century Helicopter Products.
Setting new standards in large electrics, the Swift will outperform the competition with lightning speed. The main shaft is 10mm and hollow making it ultra light. The control system is none other than the very precise 120 degree eCCPM found in the Predator & Raven with a rear mounted rudder servo. The Swift will also feature a belt drive and built-in autorotation system. The horizontal fins and vertical fins are made slim and exotic resulting in additional weight savings. The main frames were built with weight reduction and structural rigidity in mind. The helicopter with motor and servos as configured weighs in at a mere 3.4lbs. With it's lightweight components and instantaneous electric power, the Swift has earned it's named which was derived from the world's fastest species of birds.

Wow, looks awesome. I bet it will drive the Logo guys nuts!

The head seems like the Hawk sport...

So, what size machine is it? Looks like a 30-50 size to me.

Any idea of price and driving gear setup?

Very cool!

> So, what size machine is it? Looks like a 30-50 size to me.

Well, it is spec'd for 530-550 mm main blades. So, if you run 550's you would have a 30-size heli.

> I bet it will drive the Logo guys nuts!

Hehe, that it will. Especially if it can be tuned for harder 3D. The Logo 10 head isn't really designed for it. I guess this is more of Logo 14 competitor, really, with probably a more agressive head. I'm sure the Swift's repair costs will also be a lot better.

It'll be interesting to see what kind of battery system is required. Will it require Hi discharge Li-Pos to keep the weight down? Those are expensinve puppies. Even high discharge NiMh start to cost big bucks (couple hundred) when set up for these kinds of birds.

But, with the eCCPM, if it'd 3D like a Raven in a 30 size then it'd be a great bird for indoors as well (for indoor flying fans). That's inside a gym of similar area, not your bathroom

Century seems to be coming out with a number of new products. Hawk Pro and now this. It'll be interesting to see if they can get them to market in a decent time or whether we'll be kept waiting.

Got Money? Send it to me, I'm a Heli Addict.

Man thats sweet, wish I could afford an electric that big, I think not only batters are expensive, the support equipment may be expensive.

That does look prety cool. Now if Century can just come up with one of their killer money saving combo deals on this puppy they will surely have winner. The only thing that has kept me away from electrics is the cost involved. But I am betting they have a plan for that as well. Or at least one can hope. This does however make one wonder what else they have up their sleaves. Oh, and I to wonder about what the size is like. Looks kind of like the size of the Eolo. But I could be wrong.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

I like it....

But the landing gear looks weak. I did not like the landing gear on my logo 20 either because it would flex under the weight of the heli. I also think the fins are skimpy.

As for batterys... it looks like its made for lipos since most 30 size electrics fly on 16 to 20 cells. I dont see where you could put that many round cells on this heli.

Why does it seem like all of the new E helis are made for lipos? I think they are still to high in price for main stream use.

I thought so too! It just looks like you could get a little flex with the boom supports being so far down the plastic skid. It's probably okay though....

At first I saw the thin boomerang-like tail fins and thought wow how useless are these things, then I thought about how I fly with HH locked anyway so what difference would it make?
