the elevator bellcrank is mounted between the 2 pitch arms, under normal conditions there is no way this bellcrank can twist, and the A-arm is held quite ridged to the bellcrank, and other than controlling the elevator's bellcrank the servo has "nothing" more to do with the system, in the 10 crashes I had with my Falcon I have not hurt any servos, I have broke 1 roll bellcrank, 2 mixing arms, 3 or 4 flybar control arms, 1 radius arm, 3 rod ends, and 3 arms on blade grips, but "never" a servo or servo gears,,,

most likely what Century did was to pick a selling price first, then pick what can be sold in the kit for that selling price,,,

for only $40 more that the Sport the Hawk pro has about $115 in upgrades, that is a deal !!
metal frames,,,,,,,,,, $28,
torque tube,,,,,,,,,,,,, $55,
extra bearings,,,,,,,,,$20
rear servo mount,,,,,$10

I have broken all sorts of stuff on my Hawk in crashes, including an elevator arm. Never a servo though. I have been using Hitec 422bb on everything but the rudder and seem to be doing fine. The next one will have JR DS-811s, simply because that is what I have.

I ve been using Hitec sport Digitals on my Hawk sport, they are HS 5475HB's I ve had great luck, and they seem to work very well. I ve got a CCPM conversion on the way for it now, and will try those servos on CCPM and see how it goes, I may need better ones though but we will see.

Servos on the Hawk...

Well after much soul searching I've desided on the Hitec 425BB servos for the Hawk Pro. From what I gather the load on the servos is minimal as it does mechanical mixing for the collective. The HS425BB servos have 46 oz/in torque which if I'm not all wet is more than enough in this setup. They are also Dual BB so we won't be wearing them out anytime soon. They are also indirect drive, something someone else said was a disaster waiting to happen in a heli if they were not. I could also run them at 6 volts for some added torque and speed. My next choice would have been the HS525BB or the HS635BB, but I think these would have been overkill. I'm not going to do 3D stuff anytime soon, if at all. Then if I did go 3D I'd go with the CCPM setup anyway and go with some really stout digital servos.

Just my .02 worth!

Scott, you can sleep well at night I have been running the same thing in my hawk for a while, beating the crap out of it, with no problems. I am using a HS-311 on throttle, because its cheaper and a little faster. I am also using a digital on the tail.

Servos...

Well I got bought 5 of them and was done with it. I figured the cost difference in the HS425 dual BB and the lowest cost ones wasn't worth the trouble. Besides as long as they are all the same I don't have to think (grin) when putting them in the heli. As soon as I need to (bigger heli?) I'll go with something allot more expensive and probably digital. Right now, like I said before, I'm trying to keep this low on my wifes radar screen. Funny thing is she wants a new dinning room table and as far as she's concerned, price is no object. Well whatever it takes! I'll just be glad just to have a heli to fly again, regardless of cost. I can't wait!!!!

Bugsb...

Well the Hawk Pro might just be a Hawk 3/4/Sport but it has some of the upgrades on it that some owners have obliviously said they wanted or it just came time for the manufacturer to do this. Since it's going to be available soon I didn't think it wise of me to pass it up. Most have said that the torque tube drive is worth the upgrade, but I've always had drive shaft tail rotors and have never had one fail on me, but I was always mindful of that fact. So I made sure that they were in good working order. I priced out a Hawk with all these parts extra and it was no contest. I'd have to spend another 100 something dollars to get those and I was going to buy most of the upgrades plus some the Hawk Pro has anyway. So in my case it was a no-brainer! Well on second thought I have no-brain! Anyway, I think someone else on this thread has said that on your next crash of your Hawk instead of buying new parts for it, you'd be better off to just buy a new Hawk Pro helicopter kit. Kind of like some Lexmark InkJet printers. Once the ink is gone, throw that one out and buy a new one! The new ink carts cost more than the printer with new carts!!!

i agree with you that if you have a bad crash it will be cheaper to buy the new heli
but as my 2 are all ready upgraded at very little cost i have no need to upgrade to the pro
i was mostly looking at the add and thinking GREAT after x amount of years a new heli but no
it seems that the hawk is starting to lag behind the other makers
and that thay are just adding bling to the hawk

Bling...

Well I can't address bling thing, but they have to do something to it if it's to remain a viable contender in the 30 class machines. This upgrade seems to have addressed that issue. I don't know what you may have believed that they would do to to make it some new heli (maybe you wanted carbon side frames or something), but Century has to keep it within reason. Besides it's a Hawk model, not a whole new line of helicopters. Hence the name "Hawk Pro". The Predator was that heli.

just some thoughts

antirotation bracket==eccpm raven not a nessasary part but really make a diference if your really pushing your skills/heli..

as wasp said earlier, not nessasary for the hawk//ect..

but when running eccpm do use good servos ,, and stay away from
the metal geared ones,, the brunt of the injurys will be to gears
on ccpm and plastic is alot cheaper and easier to repair..

just my very few opinions

more on the Hawk Pro...

The latest...

I have just received this message from Century:

"Good morning Scott,
They are on a ship crossing the ocean right now. We expect them in
stock during the first week of April.
Thank you for choosing Helicopter World / Century Helicopter Products."

Crap! I was hoping for a delivery during 'this' month.

Hawk Pro

I pre-ordered my Pro last week.

While speaking to the sales rep, he related the boat has hit the dock, now to deal with Customs before taking delivery.

Acutally, April may be a good date, let hope so

at the dock...

Yeah, they can be at the dock, but how long will it take to get them off the boat (ship?) he-he. I hope not too long. All this waiting is killing me! I'm hoping to hear from Century soon. I'd guess those that pre-ordered one will get a notice in e-mail that they are available and all that needs to be done at that time is give them the required info and they'll ship it to you. When this happens I may ask them to ship it FedEx two day if it's not too much. Waiting five days to come from Call-e-forn-ya is a drag!

Thought I'd give this a bump...

Who has ordered a Hawk Pro other than me? Are you flying something in the mean time? Or are you just sitting at home, like me and waiting for the big day the e-mail comes and say's, "The Hawk Pro's are ready to ship!"...do you really want one, punk? Well, do ya? Go ahead and say it, "Yes! Yes! I want one!" I'm loosing it. I'll be a basket case before it gets here. I keep having this feeling they'll be feeding me oatmeal before I see one! Geesh how much longer can this go on? I think I'll take up knitting to pass the time. I might even have a sever case of cabin fever, as the weather here has been really sorry for flying anything. It's been several weeks since I've even been able to fly my planes. I've been tempted to order a Raven, but the wife promises to kill me if I do that. That could get ugly. I've even thought about just ordering a Hawk Sport, but the day after I order that I'll get the e-mail that the Hawk Pro's are shipping and I'll be bummed out over that. Man, I just can't win here. What's that show on TV called? Oh yeah, "Just shoot me!"

I can't win...

Just received an email for Heli-World and now the Hawk Sport is out of stock!!! I think I 'will' take up knitting. My wife has all that stuff right here at home.

Well I suppose that even at the increased price it is still the cheapest Heli out there and now made that much better with the upgrades

Cheap...

Oh definately! This is what drew me to this heli. That and the upgrades over the Hawk Sport. I am now forced to go with the Hawk Pro even if I choose the Hawk Sport for expedience. I guess I could try another dealer to see if one is available, but! I just wonder if the "Next week" timing is on the mark.
