"Hi Ozace,

If you look at Rscamp's site: http://www.execulink.com/~rscamp/Ho...tric_Fligh.html

You know how the batteries are installed."

Okay. Who messed with the link and why?

If I correct the link or link to the home page of my private little non-commercial website will you delete that too?

This is nuts.

my heli is almost done. The motor mount arrived today from HHI.
It is a sweet piece. I have installed a Kontronik 600-15 to start with. I hope it will be enough to hover on 10-12 cells. So far the build is moving along well. Once i get the heli sorted, into the long ranger it goes. Thanks to the pic posters for the help it has been most valuable.
If the heli works i have a few quick ali heads that will fit on so i can do away with the rubbish, sloppy hirobo stuff.

Well thanks to you guys, mine is up and running.
I started with a new shuttle plus kit. I added a HHI motor mount (makes life easy) and did some motor tests.

First i used a kontronik 600-15 on 10 cells (gp3300). the heli flew surprisingly well considering the power train.

Second i put in a Twister 40 outrunner. This motor is a 1000kv motor rated to a max 650 watts. Initial flights were with 16 cells (gp2200) but the motor couldnt cope. Caused too much grief for the esc (hyperion 80) causing cutouts. I tried different controllers until i realised i was pushing the motor too hard. The wattsup showed 649 watts during gentle flights.

After some headscratching i rearranged the pack to a 14 cells (gp2200). Now i was cooking with gas. The heli flew for 4:50 mins (which was close enough to my target time).

I have done a few flight like this, the wattup showed a more managable 450 watts during gentle flights.

Over the last couple of nights i have started the fuse install. It is almost done now and looks much better than i had imagined. The Shuttle must be the heli the Funkey fuses were designed. The mechanics slipped in with an absolut minimum of fuss.

So once again thanks to the posters in this thread for the hints and tips you have posted.

Have any of you have try EMOLI cells on the Shuttle?

Also, what is your Head Spead? Do does plastic blade holder will not crack with to much RPM?

THX,

Isaac

Dear all,

I have converted my Shuttle Plus with the adapter from HHI, an electric motor Mega 22-45-3 with a KV of 1000. The controler is an Align RCE-BL75G, and I made the first takes-off with 2 old 16cells packs 1700mAh at each side of the body, taken from a boat...
As you guess the autonomy is very low and I am going to change the batteries.
This is why your help would be great !

In fact I am hesitating on the number of cells to choose : 16 or 20... ???

I don't want to put Lipos in my helicopter)
20 cells would increase weight, but increase RPM of the rotor and maybe the torque... 16 cells would be lighter but is it efficient enough to fly ? I am a beginner and I don't need performances : I just need the helicopter to hover correctly for simple flight without 3d ! ;-)
I thank you in advance for your replies, and wish you good flights !
"bons vols"

Regards,

Sylvain

which blades are you using? the stock wood semi-symmetrical? If not then you should try them, they give you a noticable increase in performance if your not going to do any upside down flying. I don't use any Nicd or NiMH batteries so I cant help you there. You may find that the emoli or a123 batteries are a good option to lipo.

Kontronik vs Scorpion/CC

I am trying to decide between a Kontronik Tango 45-08 and a Jazz 55-10-32 ESC vs a Scorpion 4025-1100 and a CC ICE or HV. I know the KVs are not the same. My interest is in the reliability and consistency of the governor and the efficiency of the motor. I will be converting a Hirobo Shuttle or putting into a T-Rex 600. Can anybody provide insight on flight times, etc... Not looking for a specifc on the flight time as I understand the physics involved, but maybe a comparison between the two setups assuming each motor has the same KV and all other factors are constant. Will the Kontronik fly longer and have a lesser amp draw. Thanks in advance...

Don't know about the Scorpion because I don't have the 1100. I have the Tango 45-08 on my Trex and a Jazz controller. Very reliable and good flight time. Very efficient setup.

I can't comment either. I run the Tango 45-08 with a CC HV85 ESC. Works great!

I actually have a CC85HV as well. Do you run governor? How consistent is it and can you compare the governor to that of a Jazz?

Yes, I do run governor and it is very consistent. Can't compare to Jazz as I've never owned one.

Purchased the motor (45-08). What cell count do you use and do you run a 100% throttle curve? Thanks
