When my Trex arrived, the first thing I had to do was take out all the cool little moving metal and plastic pieces and play with them (doesn't everybody?) To my surprise the silly little plastic cross that holds the ball onto the rest of the swashplate fell off "What the hey..?"

Realizing that if I used CA to glue it back on, it would probably glue the ball fast to the swash as well, I decided on a more permanent solution: screws! I drilled four 1/16" holes into each of the legs of the cross, through the inner body of the swash and then used some of the screws from the spare parts package. Not only does it work, it also allows me to adjust the ball fit (a.k.a. "slop") inside the swash

Bobs,

I get the feeling that (in the words of Sean Connery) you're "shtill waiting to be impreshed" ... three thoughts on this:

1. you get what you pay for
2. isn't this all part of the hobby?
3. helicopter kits were hard to design/manufacture - they should be hard to build/fly!

Seriously though, I understand your frustration and a lesser person would have given up long ago - that's what makes us special

Bobs,
You must see that Align is working hard on resolving many of the issues. At least they are listening to their customers (unlike other heli companies).

Having bought my Trex very recently I think I got the newly designed kit which didn't have any problems except for the leaking threadlock container.

I was happy with the quality of the parts during the build.

Yeah, I think they all do! I had to do an enormous amount of work to make my Shogun fly great. I had accomplished making the Gun fly good and have moved on to a Logo 10 3D to really start flying instead of tinkering all the time.

.My swash plate fell apart in my hands before I could put it on. No big deal as long as it didn't happen when I was flying a little 30 minute epoxy and it has been working great ever since.
I have more play with all the linkages than you can imagine. But the big picture here is it still fly's great. Its bone stock I haven't even gotten the new ball links nothing has been changed slop on all control surfaces except the tail where I took the time to get rid of the slop. All this talk of changing this or that or buying an $80.00 swash plate to make it fly better is just nonsense. If I could show you how much slop is in the linkages you would be amazed at how it fly’s. Remember one thing it's not the helicopter that doesn't fly but the guy doing the flying.
Slop just makes the controls fell a little loose when trying to hover in a very small area. A kit that sells for $169.00 don't expect a $1200 heli kit it does what it does very well in the stock version. All this advice on how to improve certain things is nice to know but ask your self is it really worth the time.
Just my two cents, too many posts venting frustration on what I do not understand. As you don't need a fancy swash plate or tail set up to fly this little heli. Don't expect perfection with a cheaper heli kit it is a hobby some times you have to do a little more than assemble it.

Sorry you had a bad experience, Bobs! But I am thouroghly enjoying my Trex. After having a Piccolo(now you want to say "POS") this is a cadillac. Mine flew great out of the box! And even if I want to tinker with it thats fine with me. Mark me down as a satisfied customer.............................Dave
