here's the description of the technology used :

I just have to draw the part using a 3D CAD program and the machine simply "prints" it.

My job give me access to some of those special machines, I love my job

Hi Marcellus

Was that Gillium Hastroy flying the Hornet in the video, nice flying anyway.

BTW I go to Annecy every summer now, not for heli flying but Paragliding, it's a great place for that!

Cheers

Marcellus,

Very cool. You are lucky to have access to such equipment. I used to work in a prototype shop that had some SLA machines. It seems your process is much stronger and well suited for helis. I have seen some of your posts on RC groups. Nice work.
Sorry to get off topic....

The advantage of our protortype head just by looks alone is already very obvious ( main rotor is now higher away from the chasis, lesser chance of boom strike ?)... and it seems that maintenance will be easy too.... Did u prototype a few extra parts for urself as spares?

I wonder if the protortype head can be mass-produced in plastic instead of metal, (Cheaper!).......Theze lobos are always producing heads in metal nowadays...

G-u-i-l-l-a-u-m-e H-a-s-t-o-y

PS: all right the 1st name is a little complicated but my family name "Hastoy" should be easy since it sounds a little american (eventhough it's a french name). Many guys ask me what kind of toy I have... Now I will say it's not a toy it's a troy

Hi Guillaume

Thought I had spelt it wrong:-)

It might sound American but I am not a yank so that doesn't help much does it:-)

My surname is always spelt wrongly as well!

Anyway hope you are keeping well.

Aaahhhh.... *that* BobJ ,the grand master. what's up Bob, or should I say mr. Johnson I've seen yours written that way many times, missing the T !!

It's been a long time since the last Poting Cup. I've got to tell you that those new "wild" stunt pilots don't impress me half of what your flying abilites were 7 years ago ! I liked Ruediger Feil as well. That was aerobatics, now they're all doing stunts... pfff... Or maybe it's just me getting too old to understand

I see you have good success with SkylineModels, the feedbacks I read are excellent , congrats !! I'm now flying X-Cell and OS, full sponsorship and I'm still looking for a radio sponsor. Futaba rejected me because they don't do sponsorships at all. I'll be looking towards JR or Hitec.

Take care,

Guillaume Hastoy

Hi RotorX,

Yes I was flying the F1 Carbon Max several years ago. I was sponsored by Quick UK and I think their new business of upgrade parts is a much better one I hope you fly something else now !

The F1 needed to be modified a lot to fly tough 3D with. The funny thing is that in the year 2000 I beat petr Novotny at the Poting Cup flying the F1 (the guy who made it 2nd at the 3D Masters not long later).

Bye,

Guillaume

lol @ bobj - you cheeky bugger you tried to sell me the one hanging one up in your shop (i know you was joking).

Guillaume,

Yes i am flying something better - a fury extreme, but i still keep the F1 around, with a 2000 speed on a 61WC with a hatori on it - goes like the clappers Glad to hear you are geting sponsorship yet again

bob i used to pester Guillaume about the F1 with so many questions, (which he graciously answered) bit like what i do to you now

Sam give it up dude, your H2 is loaded with so much BLING it'll never climb out, like mine, it just weighed in at 336 grams with lipo - TP 13203s1p

Hi Sam,

I use the Hacker B20-26S , the ESC is also from Hacker , I think it's called Heli Master something (DP ?)... I will soon receive a helicopter outrunner motor from Hacker (they sponsor me for this season).

The batteries on the videos are old 1200mAh E-Tech, I now use the Thunder Power 1320mah Gen2. I don't use governors on micros because I can't get them to hold the rpm constant on quick collective pitch variations. I use a simple V-curve.

The gyro used on the videos is the small HH from MS but it's too sensitive to vibrations, I now use the GY401. Main and Tail rotor are prototypes that will soon hit the market I think. As well as paddles and tail blades.

The current issues I have with my Hornets is this:

- even a small amount of vibrations will disturb a 401 and wear out the tail servo and tail system quickly. A frequency match problem I guess.

- Strong Pitch-Up behaviour on outdoor flying.

- Tail vibrations coming from the tail blades and also the tail torque tube.

- Heli too heavy. I think a helicopter of this size should weigh 200gr. max for good indoor 3D flying.

- Unexplained strange cyclic behaviours sometimes ( as if a cyclic servo would loose its torque for a moment). Strange !?!? It makes the flying very stressful...

- etc

Bye,

Guillaume

Guillaume:

wow, thanks for your quick reply!
stressful?...your stress didnt show thru your flying! you were throwing it around in the air like you just dont care!!!
so youre using good ol v -curve...whats your lowest throttle position in idle up mode?
and finally, do u use any cyclic to throttle mixing?

rotorx:

right......thats it, im taking off the case on my futaba gyro 401! plus the case of my rx!!!

if my h2 is still not light enough, the blades are coming off!!!

l8rs all!

Hi Sam

Going to really busy for a couple of weeks but will try to get down after Nurnberg, we have some new Foam planks now and the Biplane version is really nice going from the little flying I have done with it so going to build one up for myself, you will love it.
Got a few other new toys but can't show them off until after Nurnberg..

Cheers

Sam,

I don't remember the mid point value of my throttle curve but I simply set it so that rpm don't change between 0 pitch and max pitch. As for cyclic to throttle, no I don't use this mix. My rotor head setup uses very little power on cyclic (good paddles size + + good mixing ratio etc.) .
