Is it the Mega 16/15/3 or the Neu Motor, for the best set up?
Or is it the new Align Motor?

Best for what?
Ultimate 3D performance?
I could be wrong, since I do not fly 3D, but it sounds like a lot of people are happy usering smaller, higher cell count batteries to get that top performance.
4S and 5S batteries with 1050mAh packs have had good reviews. But I have not seen much apples to apples comparisons.
So, I don't think that there IS a consensus yet.

It doesn't matter what you do the Neu 1105/3Y (or MH3500) is hands down better than the Mega 16/15/3! I have both motors. Here is some basic info with 3S TP2100 in a continous hover (bigger stress on motor and batt than FF).

Mega + 13t pinion
hover time: 9.5min
motor temp: 170ºF
HS: 2400-2500
weight: 76g

Neu + 11t pinion
hover time: 12.5 min
motor temp: 116ºF
HS: 2500+
weight: 65g

Also the Neu has more pulling power in flight! Just can't be beat! Well, maybe the Lehner 1020/17 if it would eventually arrive at last...

AON motors?

anyone hear about AON motors (sorry - only link i could find @ google right now)

at the recent AMA - i guess they were showcasing these and had one in a rex flying around that impressed everyone.

haven't heard much since...

edit: I talked to my buddy that went and watched the AON rex. he was saying it has so much power it req'd the stretch kit or the tail would spin out. not sure what that was all about since i would think you could just trim the tail to the new power adjustment. ***shrug***

I have been flying the Neu 3500kv on 3s 2100 packs now for a few weeks, I am totally impressed with that setup, I too run the 11t pinion on that. much longer flight times, good for mild 3d also, I do find the 4s 1320 TP's and the 9t pinion to be a scream for harder 3d stick banging, but I get shorter flights from that, so I prefer running the Neu on the 3s and 11t pinion, seems I get the best of both flying styles that way, or close to it.

Will the pinions that come with the t-rex kit fit the neu motor?

If you buy the Neumotoer with the 3.2 shaft, then a simple 1/8th drill bit, hand reamed will make the kit pinions work, if not, buy the 2.3 shaft version, and buy the align pinions for that ,(Dahnm taught me this) they are nicer with the set screw rather than pressing them on

Yeah, I think the 2.3mm shaft would be better as then you can buy Align's pinion pack of 9t, 10t and 11t pinion which is only like $3.60. Use 11t when doeing normal flying and then when you have extra power just switch over to 9t or 10t pinion with 4S pack like Toad just mentioned.

You can buy the Neu at www.flydma.com or at tppacks.com

the rex kit i just built came with (2 )11 tooth pinions, one w/1/8" hole and the other with the smaller 2.3MM hole. I am content with the performance of the MEGA 16/15/3 in mine but the extra flight time of the NEU is very enticing. MORE time, MORE power.! What MORE could i ask for??!!!
