Hi guys,

Quick question ..

I connected all electronics last night to start preparing for flight. The tail servo ( hs55 ) makes quite a bit of noise ( stops then starts again ). I am able to move it with the sticks fine, but sluggish to return ( I will do some searching when I get home on the tail binding or tail servo ).

My question is for the GY240, what is a good starting point to start the gain. I am wondering if the gyro is sending constant changes. If I move the heli left and right the gyro does react to it. I was afraid to fire it up with the tail the way it is, or is this normal responce?

I also noticed that I have binding in the head/swashplate area when I push full right on the aireon ( not sure of the word :P ). It makes it just about 98% then it binds and makes a click noise then clears to go to a 100%. I am thinking I could just alter the servo throw to 95% or is this not a good idea. Again, not to bother you, I will do more searching later...

As usual, thanks for any input.

Hey Johnny,

No bother. Sounds like the 240 is acting normal with the servo as it hummmms and seems sluggish. Since the tail is not spinning and the heli is really not flying the gyro is probably tying to find some place to sit. Start up the heli on concrete without the rubber skid pads. Don't take off but you will know right away if your gyro or servo are reversed. As for gain, I have a little over 50 and it is rock solid. The servo horn is the skinny one from hitec and is on the second hole out. Here is a pic:

As for the swash, I found most of my binding to be in the ball in the swash. I have read that you can use a soldering iron and heat up the ball and loosen it with good results. I did about the same by putting a bolt into it with nut and spinning it up in a drill press (or drill) at high speed. As it would spin I would move the ball around. After a few min it got loose enough where it did not bind.

The clicking noise is probably the washout or the arms on the flybar hitting a screw or ball link. The cyclic rate on this thing is VERY fast and you many not need that much throw depending on your skill.

hope that helps.

Thanks, tauscnc ..

I will try that and switch to the 2nd hole on the servo... I did a little serching and found and article regarding something similar with the same radio I have ( Eclipse 7) it stated to turn up the servo throw to max ( 125%). Will also test this theory...

Thanks again,

Johnny
