Definitely the main gear will go in the event of the crash. Thats a sure thing. Most of my crashes are also due to tail gears slipping after some time. And with the crash it damages more than just the main gear..
I prefer a solid tail whereby I can fly and piro and work the tail hard without fear of the tail letting go due to the CA glue being undone

When the tail lets go it usually does more damage than just replacing the main gear. In any case my crash will usually strip the main gear as well (need to be quicker with that Hold switch!)

I have the MH gb but still assembling the tail without a proper flat surface in the sandy field is not an enjoyable or easy thing to do. I can't get the gears to sit fully or squarely without a vice or a flat surface to work on...

Which gears are slipping? I can give full rudder each way while holding the heli and nothing slips. I've never damaged any of the rear bevel gears, but I keep a spare set in my toolbox and I bought the tail press from DeeTee to help out just in case.

With the Microheli GB, the shoulders on the bevel gears need to be shaved off. This leaves very little material for the tail ouput shaft to grab on. Even with CA, it does slip after some time. With the pin it won't slip.

Agreed I've never stripped my bevel gears just have them slipping.
And with the metal gears the slipping is elminated. Also it makes removal and installation simple and the gears and shafts are reusable.
One more thing its also much cheaper than the plastic gears.

For example the full set of metal tail gears consisting of one conical and two bevels are only USD $5. Tail output shaft and hub is only $USD3 compared to $USD 13 for the MS one. Parts for the clone are incredibly cheap

Hey Dude!
Fit, in case u forgot! the last time i crashed, my rear tail gears did NOT SLIP! my tail hub slipped instead .... I still think going metal gears is not a good idea...... up to your call, it's your bird......

Hey Lowell,
U're using CA with Walt's tailshaft upgrade right? Does it hold the E118 well enough? I've read the instructions on Deetee, but then it's like CAing a plastic gear onto a metal surface right?
