Cool canopy! Really like the carrying case, might have to build myself one too...

One thing I would be careful of is the Phoenix 25. I had one burn out on me with the same motor and pinion combo you have. It worked fine for a while but then the BEC inside started acting up making my servos twitch, then the whole ESC just died! Made me crash twice - hehe .

Anyway I changed to a Kontronic 40-6-18 and man these are smooth! I love the way it spools up... Real easy to program too. Just choose heli mode and that's it, everythinng else is detected automatically. For your setup the Phoenix 35 would be a lot cheaper alternative, but I went for the Kontronic so that I could go HV (even 6S, with the built in ESC) later on.

Beautiful T-Rex Marcellus !! I see a picture where you fly inverted , how do you manage to control the helicopter in such a position , is the cyclic inverted ?

dnam, for the first flight, with stock adjusting cyclic rods, pitch wasn't symetrical. got more positive and less negative so it couldn't stay inverted. Hovering on that set up, I did not get enough throttle and too much pitch and the Phx got really hot !
now i have fixed the rods to the right dimension, every thing is perfectly set. I got full positive and full negative pitch. I didnt change anything on the throttle curve so I got more RPM than before and the motor is less on charge by rotor. Phx get warm but not as hot as before.

I also lubricated the swash bearing using WD40 because it wasn't totally free. now the motor got plenty of power.
the next thing i'll fix will be the little shaft next to the rotor (the one with a pulley and a pinion + 2 bearings) beacause this shaft is not properly mounted, it's a design mistake. one of the two bearing HAS TO be free on the shaft, if not the system is hyperstatic and the shaft is too hard to turn. I saw that by disassembling rotor head and try to turn the rotor shaft manualy, to hard ! a lot of power is eaten by these two bearings.

I'll post some pics of my mods/improvements as soon as i get some parts back because i know my english is not perfect and I think that my way to explain things is not so easy to understand ... really sorry for that

Thanks all for sharing your thought about my heli

Cheers

Marcellus,
I noticed it was harder than it should be to turn the tail drive gear assembly. What do you think is the best way to fix it? What about just breaking loose the bottom bearing?

slightly unscrewing the screw around those bearings make them a little more free. but i think it's not the goode solution.
I've lubricated them with some WD40 and it's better.
I think it will get free by itself when turning and flying.
note that the swashplate bearing movement is better too with some WD40 lubricant.

Cheers
