I'm running a Mega 16/15/3 with a TP2100 3S. When I start moving into the upper end of my head speed range...the motor starts to cut in and out at a rapid pace..almost like its pulsing. This leads me to believe that my ESC is cutting the power b/c of overload. Does anyone have a similar / same setup and what kind of ESC do you have? If you have the CC25 do you or did you experience this problem ever?? I have a CC45 in my toolbox so I will swap it and see what happens. The Mega plus 4 servos I'm thinking may be a bit much for the ESC to handle with the BEC runnin. I'll report back. Any suggestions would be great as well! Merry Xmas!!

I have a mega 16/15/3 and a CC P35 on the way, so we can compare when it comes in. I was hoping that the big brown heli truck would deliver today, but they all just drove by... Santa must be teasing me.

Mega 16/15/3 in a T-Rex

Orion_V,

What about disabling the current shutdown? Set it to insensitive or disable it if possible in the menu. Then see if you still have the problem.

I am interested in possibly using that motor also.

Vinceherman..

Like I said I'm using the 25A version, which I felt might of been cutting it close with my setup. You should be fine with the 35A.

Hpilotrc...

I'm a little nervous about disabling the current limiting feature. Perhaps I will try it out briefly to see if this still happens while having the setting disabled.

The CC25 appears to cutout on peak rather than rms power

I run mine with the current limiter off (also in a speed 400 plank) due to the same problem - however it may be advisable to drop down to the next smaller pinion - check it out with a current meter like the medusa

just ensure that your average consistent current consumption is is around 18 to 22 amps

the CC25 can burst to 40 amps

Orion_V,

Are you running fixed throttle or auto-calibrating? If you are in fixed throttle mode then lower your high throttle end point some and try that. I have found that if I am right on the edge with the end points on my TX in fixed throttle mode, I will get the same results as you are.

Yeah, I had the same problem today, except not only was the motor cutting out, but also the heli would act like it was getting a radio hit-pretty sure it wasn't. It powered in from a 3 foot hover and did the chicken dance. Put on a new set of blades and would hold it in my hand and I could get it to glitch anywhere between mid stick and full stick. Put my meter on it and when it would glitch, the amp draw would go from 8-9 amps down to 3-4 amps (since the motor would cut out). I was thinking that the bec was doing it but put the meter in with the gyro and it was an almost constant 4.99-5.00volts--even when the motor was glitching. I'm stuck as to it either being the speed control (CC25) or my receiver. Neither of which do I want to buy another of for testing purposes.........

well...one thing is for sure I'm not gonna drop the pinion size down b/c at my current setup i'm not getting much lift. I have it on govenor mode and I'm not even close to hovering at mid stick which is where I want to be. I have an 11 tooth right now but I may put the 13 tooth to see what happens. I'm gonna pop the 45a in. I dont mind the extra weight b/c at this point I just want to be able to hover and do some forward flight. No 3d right now. This little guy is giving me a lot of issues.

Step up to the 13 tooth pinion. Or use a 14 tooth if you have one. I am running the CC 25 settings as I had it with my Zoom (non gov mode, standard timing, 9v cutoff) with the Mega 16/15/3 -14 tooth and a TP 2100 pack it runs great. Plenty of power....more than any motor I've tried in the thing. Never had any motor cut-out's.

I am using the Hitec HS 56HB servo's...On-board CC 25 BEC seems to do fine!

rczoom...

what mode are you flying in if your not using governor? I have to wait for new landing gear since mine cracked but I'll go ahead with the bigger pinion and report back. I'm determined to get this thing flying.

I Use the following program on my CC 25 and have no issues:

1: Voltage cutoff (9V) Option 5
2: Current limiting (Standard) Option 3
3: Brake type (Disabled) Option 5
4: Throttle type (Auto calibrating) Option 1
5: Electronic timing advance (Standard advance) Option 2
6: Cutoff type (Soft cutoff) Option 2
7: Soft start (Very soft start) Option 1

I throttle up in normal mode (untouched throttle curve 0, 25, 50, 75, 100) then switch to flight mode 1 (100, 100, 100, 100, 100) and fly in mode 1. It works great for me using the Mega 16/15/3 14 tooth pinion, wood blades from the kit and a TP2100 pack.

I was flying with very soft start enabled and it was causing a lag in power. I didnt notice it until someone flew my heli and asked if I had that setting selected. I had also noticed a lag in power but didnt realize it was becasue of that setting. Since i put it back to soft start it seems to have made the problem of the power lag go away. Since your flight mode doesnt change the throttle much it might not be as noticable.

Works great for me!
As I said, I fly 100% throttle. And prefer to have as smooth a spool up as possible before I flip the switch.

I got the same experience like this when i used Mega power B20 15L 3600KV 11T with CC25 After Hovering around 2 min my trex suddenly down to ground. After investigate and found that CC25's shield was melt but it still work fine. So What happen to my T-Rex??? I checked how much current draw and found that B20 15L draw more that 30amp. I checked the voltage cut-off it still 9volt. So it must be CC25 shut down itself because of OVERLOAD!!!. Now i keep Mega power B20 15L in my box and used Ultrafly 2900Kv this one draw only 10-15 amp at max throtle. I'm so happy with this motor.
So you need to check how much amp need for your motor before choosen controller.

Hello Gang,

I have a lot mega motors from my old planks, pylon racers days... The old TP2100 are rated 16amp. bubble burst... Are the new TP's 2100's can take more amps now? (Sorry for asking, been away from 400type ships, for a long time now)

Really like the sound of a 400 motor size ship, because I have all the system for it already
