Ladies and Gentlemen-

Good evening.

I just wanted to let you know that the highly anticipated RealFlight G3 helicopter update is ready and available immediately for you to download.

Here's a link to the site:

http://12.156.2.54/downloads/RealFl...6HeliUpdate.exe

The update itself is approximately 140MB. If you're on a dial-up connection, I would advise you to either find a friend with a DSL or cable modem connection. Alternatively, you might also consider visiting a local library or Internet cafe and downloading it to a thumb drive or similar device. The FREE update discs are expected in Champaign in approximately one week. We'll be sending them out immediately upon their arrival.

If there's anything that you'd like to see added or refined in the simulator, don't hesitate to let us know. As you probably know, software is ever-evolving.

Good Luck and Good Flying,

Mark

EXCELLENT! Keep up the great work guys.
Xmas comes early for G3 owners.
PS: 2.8+GHZ is highly recommended if not absolutely necessary!

Hi:

G3 rocks! Take a look at the heli virtual flight instructor and you'll find two top pilots (Pete Niotis and Todd Bennett) explaining from basics to expert maneuvers. No matter if you're a 3D expert, I'm sure you will learn something new from the mouth and hands of these two gentlemen.

In addition, the multiplayer utility has been improved considerably. And of course, the physics are amazing.

Thank you very much.

David

Am I going to crash today?

2.8 Ghz to run this Sim?, you are full of Crap!,

I assume you know something that could help those of us with lower spec PC's make em run better with G3 then. Can you share it with us?

Cheers

hi GBNT...

Graphics settings can be tweaked...they provide you with low, medium, high and highest graphic quality settings for various defined graphic related parameters. Additionally, scenery objects can be removed which will also help increase frame rate. Smoke can be turned off, clouds can be taken out, etc....

Tweaking all these settings down will be important on slower pc's that meet or exceed the minimum requirements.

It will be important to leave Physics quality at it's deafult "Highest" setting.

Any unwanted programs running in the background will not help with the frame rate on slower pc's.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask if you have anymore questions.

hi Matt..

Yes you can display frame rate within the "NavGuides" option.

30fps and above will be what you need to run it smoothly.

Thanks Pete
Can I pick your brain some more?
Using XP home, whats the basic system programs that have to run?
To stop all others, is it as simple as clicking end process to stop them?

Cheers

Jez...

pick away, hehe

It can be as easy as ending processes, usually XP will harass you if you are about to end a process that should not be turned off. Jeff Swartz has some program that you can run and it will explain running processes to you which will assist you in identifying all those background running processes. I'm sure Jeff will chime in here shortly.

Unwanted programs will take up memory and use up processor time which G3 will need.

System performance...

Well... I am running on a older (2yr) sony desktop vaio computer.

P3 - 2.66
512 - ram
ahh... dont even know about the rest...

I did get a radeon 9800 graphics card. That is the biggest thing you need.

I can run everything on and get 40-50 fps on the ground and over 100 fps in the air.

Start turning stuff off like, trees, particales, shadows, ground detail, objects, and such... your frame rates go up lots. So a slower computer will really not be a HUGE issue, unless you want all the goodies on.

I have found that some feilds with the leaves blowing on the trees sucks up some power. Cool though!

You can also go in and customize these settings.. like level of tree detail - not just on or off... but you can set it to and level of detail form 0 to 100 percent. Not sure if all can be set like this.. but I think they can.

On my screen.. I have found that I like the clouds adjusted down a bit. you can adjust the size density type and speed of high level clouds and low level clouds.. This is really cool! I think this is helpfull because of diffrent users screen they have.

----

I had all kinds of crap running on my computers.... the stuff that just comes up over time. found a program called RegCleaner from a buddy and I will upload it to my gallery for those who want it. I was able to turn off all the crap that loads in the area beside your clock in the lower left screen corner. Use it on my work computers now too!

RegCleaner.zip is located at the bottom of my gallery now.

What is a Dominion 3D 90??? Can you provide a list of the helis in G3 ... any that ARE (not resemble) what most folks would buy/fly and will there be any plans for providing a demo?
