Long before I started to fly helicopters

I'm not even finished paying for this new 'toy' yet so there was no way I was taking it out in those conditions yesterday - might just be my age catching up on me

Looked out the window today and the treetops aren't even moving - excellent

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH

Managed to get some air beneath the skids on the MP today .

Totally fantastic machine - very very precise and what a noise

Only thing I couldn't get was the level of 'punch out' that Yan was getting at 3DMasters but need to 'play' with the ESC settings a bit to see if I can get more.

Headspeed was tached at 1950 and it held fine for 'normal' flying, just didn't hold for that full power climbout we all saw at the show. Inverted came only minutes into the first flight which saw some backward rolls, inverted backward circuits and death spiral - it went that well .

Batteries were pretty warm after an 8-10 minute flight - nice in this lovely British weather but the motor and controller were cold (well, alright they were slightly warmer than cold but you couldn't hold on to them to take the chill off your fingers ).

Managed to get two flights in - wind was increasing in the afternoon but confidence gained from this morning allowed me to get out a second time. Not sure my 30A leisure battery in my flight box can handle more than one re-charge though and will definately have to invest in a second flight pack as soon as funds allow .

Took the 3DNT out with me aswell, but that one didn't get to see any airtime as it would just have felt like flying a barge after the nimble MP - also couldn't be bothered with all that fueling/starting/cleaning down again. Won't be for sale in the immediate future but who knows .

Will be uploading all the pics including the battery make-up in the morning.

Cheers
Richard.

I have uploaded some pictures of the the Henseleit 10s5p battery pack and the building process to my gallery if anyone is interested. Let me know if you have any questions about building the pack.

I still have not managed to fly the MP yet as the weather has been really terrible around here lately.

Hi M.A.

Not seen any gas versions... but I know Jan uses an OS 90 / MP2 in his gas version to achieve 'comparable' performance to the electric.

Model Avionics

Well - the battery bulid took me ages! Dont know how you did it in two hours!

They look great once complete though - its the biggest battery I have ever owned - I am pleased I built it though - should a cell or so go stray I know it can easily be repaired by me!

Fiddly job soldering the balancers to the small strip connector - that alone took me 40 mins!

Looks like next weekend for air time - been blowing like mad in my part of the world.

did you break in the batteries? Lipo's need a bout 10+ cycles before they hit their sweet spot.

Rhett..... I can't fly, but the Profi sure can.

No that's actually a two with an underline so I only have two packs.

I am using the CSM balancers.

Managed a quick flight today with a WATTS UP attached

Relevant figures were
Peak watts 797.5
Capacity used 3.65Ah
and 96.8Wh tho I don't know what that signifies.

This on my rather weedy 8S2P Gen1 batts and 45-07 Jaxx on 100% straight across, it was bogging badly climbing in the .. eh hem .. fresh breezes we are currently experiencing.

These figures are very similar to what I got with the same batts on a 45-09 in my logo10

Jan Henseleit has just officially confirmed (www.rc-helicopter.org, German heli forum) the information that he is experimenting with a .91 engine in his 3DMP. Jan did not have time to finish his tests, but the first flights seem to be "promising" - what else could he say if you take into account that this heli with a .91 engine and muscle pipe weighs a mere 3,3kg (without fuel)...

Jan now uses 15% Nitro; in contrast to the NT the clutch of the 3DMP will now allow to mount any standard 9.5mm engine including Yamada engines and other engines with pumps.
