401 losing the tail in IDLE UP???

RonnyD

Can anyone help?

I am using a 401 with an HS-50. JR xp6102.

My gain is remotely set on my gear channel at 60% both up and down.
The tail holds solid in normal mode.
As soon as I switch to idle up, the nose starts to drift left and seems like heading lock is disengaged.

Any clue???
Thanks,
Ron.

you probably have some non-zero rudder trim
in idle-up. the gyro sees that as a rudder command

disconnect the motor and see if the LED on the
401 starts flashing when you go from normal
to idle-up

Erich also makes very valid points.

check all of these things.

Check that your Revolution Mix (Throttle/Rudder mix) isn't active while you are in Idle Up.

Also, your flight mode (Idle Up), may be set to turn off HH. Check your settings in each flight mode.

Yeah, you could also have a rudder offset programmed in Idle Up and not know it.

Thanks for the response guys!
I looked through all my different screens and flicked the idle up switch to see if there were any variations. I noticed the elev. and ailer. trims were a hair off in idle up but nothing major or having to do with the rudder. Am I missing something???
Thanks.

you should see the LED ON solid in all modes
(except for the channel you have the gain lead
connected to).

when you flip the gain channel, you should see
the LED go OFF

At no point in correct normal operation w/o
rudder input should the LED flash

The other comments look more likedly however, I will add that I dumped my hs-50 because it would not hold the tail in backward flight. It was a torque issue with the servo it seems.

Now using a Naro+ F HP and never been happier with a tail servo.

I paid attention to my gyro when flipping the idle up switch. The LED shuts off completely. My tail is still wandering to the right(Nose left) not at an uncontrollable rate but definetly not holding. In normal mode it's pretty solid. ANyone have a xp 6102 that can shed light???
Thanks
